It was a last minute idea to book a fishing trip on an extra day we had before catching a ferry to the island and we were very pleased with the result! the weather on the day before we set off was gail force winds with rain and we thought our fishing experience was done before we started. The next morning was amazing! the ocean was calm like a mirror, the sun coming up over the city was a magical sight as we traveled away from it to our fishing destination. Passing large freighters beautiful houses bordering the ocean cliffs and then entering into a bay that seemed to be there that day just for us was something we will remember and we hadn't even drop a line yet. Captain Eddie gave us our safety orientation explained the rigging and what to do in the event we got a "FISH ON" As it was somewhat off season (October)we were both able to land a winter fish mine being an inch to small and having to let it go did not take away anything from the experience we both enjoyed. upon return to the marina Captain Eddie cleaned our fish and pointed us to Catch of the Day store downtown that processed our fish into meal size portions and froze for our trip home. We highly recommend this fishing charter and will eventually be setting off again with them in hope of catching another gift from the ocean. thank you Kathryn and Captain Eddie! Una Ma's

My wife and I and our two 6 year old girls booked a 5 hour fishing charter with Captain Eddie for my 40th birthday. Captain Eddie did not let us down, we caught a big Chinook, thanks to the Captain for helping a novice like me bring it in! I wasn’t sure how our kids would do on a 5 hour boat ride waiting for fish, but we all had a great time again thanks to the Captain for being so personable and knowledgeable. He even dropped 2 crab traps for the kids, it was definitely their highlight watching 24 crabs scurry around on the boat deck. We missed the crab season so they were a little too small to keep, but it was still worth it! Had a great cruise along the West Vancouver coastline. Definitely a trip our family will not forget! Thanks again Pacific Angler, we hope to be back soon.

Our family had a fantastic time on our fishing trip! We highly recommend booking with Pacific Angler. Captain Eddie was our fishing guide and he was phenomenal. Not only was he professional, he was extremely knowledgeable about the waters and the fish in the area. He really worked with us in terms of how we would like to spend our time. Even though we had to find calmer waters for our little seasick sailor, we still caught a whole lot of fish! Not only did we reach our limit of salmon for four people, we had to return 5 fish back to the water as there were some restricted species of salmon. At the end of the trip, Captain Eddie very expertly helped us process the fish. Captain Eddie is a top-notch guide and we definitely will request him again on our next fishing trip when we book with Pacific Angler.

My wife and I just celebrated our anniversary out on an 8hr guide with pacific angler this past weekend; I cannot give enough Praise to the team at Pacific Anglers. Kathryn made the booking and trip organization super easy and straight forward for us. In the morning, we met Captain Eddie at the dock and I'm pretty sure I was beaming in excitement when I saw the beautiful fully decked out Grady White we would be taking for the day. Capt Eddie was absolutely fantastic! Not only was he a super knowledgeable fisherman but also very much a people person. He was willing to teach us anything we wanted about fishing in general but also about boating and water safety. He made special attention to make sure my Wife was comfortable at all times as she is 4months pregnant. We dropped our crab traps then made the crossing over to thraser rock. We got into some fish but Eddie's experience and instincts gave the gut feeling that better fishing was to be had out at the trench near nanaimo, so we picked up our lines and headed for it. We barely had our lines in for 5 minutes and the fish started hitting like crazy, and they were great sized fish!! After making the trip back across the straight we retrieved our crab traps and boy were they full! We both limited out on crabs which made for a wonderful finish to a spectacular day on the water. I can't thank Captain Eddie, Kathryn and the rest of the team at Pacific Anglers enough for making it such a memorable experience. We will be back for another charter (probably quite a few lol) I know these reviews can help guide you on which company to use (it did for us) so believe me when I say this is the charter company you want to go on.

My family and I booked a half day fishing trip with Pacific Angler as we had some people visiting Vancouver and we wanted to show them so of the best the Pacific has to offer. We had Eddie bring us out and he was amazing at expertly setting up the gear, safely driving the boat, and most importantly, detecting exactly when a fish was on the line (and we had many) while the rest of us got distracted by chatting and didn't notice the subtle movements of the rod. Eddie was an excellent guide, and helped us land a large Chinook that made my dad smile the entire trip, and my sister-in-law a beautiful coho. We had other fish we had to release but much fun was had nonetheless. All in all, we had a great time and appreciate the professionalism and expertise of Pacific Angler!

Went out w Captain Eddie on July 25th, 2020 for a 10hr fishing tour. I have to admit i was kinda of dreading the day since my last experience was so bad. But we had an amazing day of sun, food fishing and great company. Captain Eddie was so professional and personable the whole trip. Very patient with us novice fishers and one veteran fisherman my Dad. We had 2 kids ages 13 and 16 with us as well as Grandpa and my nephews’ mom. We all had a hilarious time bringing in fish and our Captain was very patient in repeating instructions when we needed them. Fishing started out slow but picked up and the 10hrs whipped by. Thanks to Katherine in the office for making the booking so easy and to Captain Eddie for a truly amazing day. Memories to last a life time.

I booked a charter with Lee Miller at the beginning of November 2021 for winter Chinook and he had Noah take me and my son and some friends out. Noah was very informative knew where the fish were bitting we hooked mutiple springs 8 to be exact through out the day ended up taking 5 springs home and a over abundance of prawns. Pacific Angler Charters has top notch service and if your looking to catch fish ask for Noah to take you out he will catch you fish. I will be back for another trip was a great first experience for my son who’s 11 years old.
Thanks again Lee and Noah for a great day.

On March 9/22 we chartered a boat with Pacific Angler Fishing Charters to fish for Spring Salmon. With my two buddies and "Captain Eddie" we made our way to Bowen Island, bouncing on the waves, and found a beautiful bay. Captain Eddie knew his stuff, was very safety conscious, and loved to tell stories while we waited for the fish to bite. The day was successful as we hooked 16-17 fish and brought home 5 (average size 9lbs). I caught the first and the largest so it was a memorable day for me. Captain Eddie fileted the fish upon arrival back at the dock. A great day on the water and a great meal once I got home.

My son was looking for something to do for my 65th Birthday during all these covid restrictions. He ended up surprising me with a day on the water. He also brought along a longtime buddy of mine and his son.

Our charter was captained by Eddie Matthei and I must say he is a guy that knows his stuff. He did a good job of figuring out our experience level and offered just the right amount of advice where necessary. Eddie was piloting a fully equipped Grady White and had top notch equipment for us to use. He takes pride in his work and it shows. He has a calm, professional demeanour which is what you want in a guide when traversing the open water of the Georgia straight. He was quick to answer questions share knowledge, and offered plenty of good fishing tips.

We managed to land a half a dozen young Chinooks that we gently returned to the water, as well as a couple of lingcod. On the way back to the dock we pulled up a bucket of spot prawns for dinner. All in all, a fantastic way spent a landmark birthday. Thanks Eddie, hope to be seeing you on the a water again soon.

There is no better way to see Vancouver than from a salmon fishing boat moving away from the city imagining that there is a zombie apocalypse. Seriously though, the guides a top notch and the shop on Broadway has everything that the traveling angler might need. If you get lucky you may just get into some wild salmon with the mountains and skyline as your backdrop.
