I spent a beautiful sunny afternoon in scenic Gastown wandering the streets, solving a mystery and learning a bit more about this fascinating part of town. The distances involved weren't too onerous so I would still suggest this activity to older tourists and the clues were based more on observation and deduction rather than knowledge so no worries if you're not a big fan of trivia games. You could certainly bring younger kids along to 'help' but if it was a kids only event, I'd suggest waiting until the kids are in their teens. Two hours was just about right and the clues were challenging enough to be entertaining without being frustrating. I'd recommend this to visitors and locals, although nice weather would make a big difference, we were outside most of the time.

This was a great way to spend a beautiful, sunny morning in Vancouver! The challenges were fun to solve and took us to some picturesque locations. It was helpful to be able to get support via text if needed.

I booked this for a team bonding activity for work on a Friday afternoon. It was very well organized and everyone had a blast. I would definitely recommend, it's fun being a detective!

We did this as our work’s social event and it was a ton of fun! Well designed, whimsical “missions” that allowed every one of us to apply our own unique strengths! Absolutely recommend it! We had 6 teams of 4-5 people competing in this amazing race style. You don’t want to miss this!

My wife wanted to do something different for her oldest son and this had been something that was suggested at work for a team building site. So I suggested that we give it a try. The four kids ranging in ages 14-26 love to play all kinds of games and have gone to many escape rooms. This was considerably different than any of those.
It was an absolute blast running around the streets of Vancouver (specifically Gastown) trying to find the clues to solve the crime. Along the way, we got to learn a bit more about the history of the area. The time seemed to fly, but we did an excellent job and solved the crime!
I would highly recommend this for anyone that likes to solve puzzles/crimes! Be sure to bring a pair of good walking shoes and account for at least two hours to roam the streets.

Vancouver Mysteries is a great game and a fun way to see and explore Vancouver from a different angle. Eye for detail is key! The 2 hour murder mystery game had us as the detectives trying to solve the crime. It was challenging and exciting all rolled into one. The clues kept us on our toes and seeing this great city from a different perspective. Our group of 5 was 12 years old and up. So anybody can do it. The pace was good, you don't have to walk fast, so just need to time yourself within the 2 hrs. I would definitely recommend this game and would go again for sure. Next time, I would go through the bag provided for the game more thoroughly at the start, we missed a key item we could have used to solve one clue.

We did "Crime in Downtown" for my friend's birthday, who absolutely loves the "Clue" games. The game host was very accommodating for helping us plan this surprise, and showed up in character. Oh boy, was she surprised :). We had a blast running around solving puzzles and the 'murder'. We are locals, but there were some parts of Gastown that we had not explored before so that was cool. Nothing like friendly competition between fellow detectives :). Can't wait for more games!

I really enjoyed this game. You will spend between 2 and 3 hours in the best areas of Vancouver. I am living in Vancouver and I discovered new hidden places I have never seen so far! There are very interesting information about key places you will get to (take the time to read the sections called "did you know" which give you insights about historical places). This game is for everyone, whether for kids or adults and tourists as well as locals! Some clues are more challenging that other ones but overall it is an amazing game. It is really worth trying it! And the organizer took the time to explain us the rules of the game and will help you to get started and to enjoy the game. Cheers, Damian

A great game with some good puzzles and storyline. What would make it 5*s is more interaction / input with other parties in the experience but it was a really good thing to do with teenage kids

I am coming from Australia in November, was wondering what is the minimum number of people you'll need to participate? It is only my boyfriend and I going to Vancouver. I also don't know much about Canada, my boyfriend is Canadian though, so will I have trouble solving anything? Also how much in advance do you have to book?

We agree with Charlene614 - no prior knowledge of Canada or Vancouver is required. Each game comes with a map, and takes you to parts of the city that even many locals might not know about!
The minimum team size is 2 players - you can book a 2 player game right on our website (we have games leaving every 15 minutes every day of the week). The website allows you to book from 3 months in advance to 18 hours in advance.

Is there any age cutoff? Can kids age 8-10 participate?
Also- we have a group of 12-14 depending which day we would do this (in July)- would it be a private group and how many teams would it be?

Thank you for your inquiry! We do not have an official age cutoff, our only requirement is that each team of minors be accompanied by an adult. Crime in Downtown is a murder investigation and may not be considered suitable for young children but our new spy game Secret Mission will be available in July.
Games of more than 5 players are private groups - at group of 12-14 players would work out to a game of 3-4 teams competing against each other.
