An easy way to get around

As always the local transport is the most economic and fastest way to travel around. The preferred mode of transport through the traffic. It isn't that expensive.

Normally I fly to seattle then ren a car and drive to vancouver. It takes several hours and incurs costs associated with parking, etc. this time I flew to Vancouver after getting into SeaTac. The skytrain is really safe, not sure why we need more transit police. Also why is the skytrain stopping at all, it should be open 24hrs.

The skytrain won't get you everywhere but where it goes gets you there fast. It pretty well gets you north and south from Nprth Vancouver to Richmond and then east and west from Surrey or Coquitlam to downtown Vancouver. It's fast and relatively inexpensive compared to taxis. Lots of people also take it just for the ride. The boat over... More

Get a compass card from certain stores. You buy it and just let the reader read it, no fooling around with money

We caught the sky train when we arrived from the uk. Just across the road from the arrivals exit. Easy to use ticket machine. Took us all the way into the city centre with our suitcases. Very cheap and fast.

A Great Place to get around. Anywhere in an hour. I spent a lot of time travelling between Surrey to Downtown Van.

Staying in Downtown

Neighbourhood Profile
Downtown
Vancouver's business district, the Downtown area is bustling with smartly-dressed folks balancing their lattes and briefcases to and from work. The area's plethora of contemporary commercial, residential, and corporate spaces has bred a landscape of nouveau restaurants, chain cafes, and upmarket shopping options. However, located right on the waterfront of Vancouver's energetic Harbour, Downtown is a also popular public meeting spot, with a massive public library and convention center attracting a bevy of visitors both local and not, as well as a hotspot for the arts, being home to some of Vancouver's most cutting-edge galleries. With behemoth architecture and a professional air, Downtown means business.
