This expansive beach offers fantastic picnicking opportunities, swimming, beach volleyball, or simply a panoramic view of Vancouver and the mountains. Spanish Banks tends to be a quieter beach which makes it very family-friendly.

The views and the harbour itself is very amazing. Even for the locals, this never get's old. And if you want to step up and play a little bit of volleyball or frisbee, others will oblige and take you on.

Nice to see the city outline and the mountains from the beach. Very chilled watching the sea. Windsurfers and sailing boats added to the view.

Only a few miles from downtown, Spanish Banks is a series of flat sand beaches that offer nice swimming, walking, biking, running along the seawalk that connects to the seawall that surrounds Vancouver. There are some facilities, like the Jericho Sailing Club that offer rentals of kayaks, paddle boards and small sailing boats n the site. You get great views... More

A very spot in the summer time and a great spot to watch the fireworks. This beach gets very busy in the summer months to make sure you arrive early to find a spot to sit. There are several restaurants around the area for lunch, or dinner. Also a great spot to watch the sunset.

Spanish Banks is beautiful any time of year. You can go up and walk around the University and visit museums. You can go to the Yacht club and grab delicious food.

This is one of my favorite beaches in the Vancouver area, because it doesn't attract as many people as other beaches (kitsilano's a zoo, and english bay is too). It's a great place to go swimming, or hang out for a bbq or picnic (bring your own grill). The bike ride there is also quite pleasant, with great scenery. The... More

This beach is great. Clean and is great for your children. You can walk endlessly for quite some time. Beautiful views on the mountains and looking towards downtown. A must while visiting Vancouver

Staying in West Point Grey

Neighbourhood Profile
West Point Grey
West Point Grey is one of the city’s oldest neighbourhoods, especially known for its easygoing and admired beachfronts. Locals crowd the Spanish Banks and Jericho Beach, especially in the summer, where a sprawling view of the English Bay awaits. The central village is an oasis of sovereign shops, many of them in local operation for years. The neighbourhood has a more personal feeling to it, and can be a wonderful and much-needed break from the bustle of big-city life, being a little haven of peace and quiet with an almost village temperament in the heart of Vancouver.
