This is a very aptly named beach. Prime sunset viewing vantage point from here. You'll often find locals hanging around to catch the sunset. My husband and I are lucky to live a mere 10 minute walk from here & come often after dinner. The sunsets are truly breathtaking!

Sunset Beach is a beautiful spot! Even on a rainy day, it is gorgeous. Four of us were visiting Vancouver and came across Sunset Beach on a walk. There is a MOBI bike rental at Sunset Beach so we rented bikes and toured all through Stanley Park and dropped the bikes off in Gastown. Highly recommend!

This small beach packs them in for sunset views (thus the name), but it also provides a nice place to relax at False Creek, play volleyball or let a dog off-leash to frolic in the water. I often stop here on visits to Vancouver when I'm walking along the stretch of seawall between Stanley Park and Yaletown. I especially like... More

This is a popular, small beach close to downtown but there are better sunset views if you walk a little further. English Bay beach is good too (right across from the laughing men statues). Further up, on the seawall, is a bench on a jut-out that offers great sunset views plus views of North Van and Bowen Island. Then if... More

I live two blocks from Sunset Beach and always appreciate that it's just steps away from my condo. It's never crowded and is always accessible. It's an underrated gem because of it's proximity to English Bay which generates most of the buzz. Not a great place to swim as the waters are quite polluted and cold. Great place, however, to... Needed to get a bit of relaxation. Sunset Beach is a great destination. Nice Sandy beach to relax and read a book. While there grab a Jumbo Hot Dog with fried onions from the concession stand. It is a jumbo and it takes me back to my teens.

Based on the name, we opted to check this place out around sunset. It was about 6 blocks from our hotel, mostly downhill. There was a lot of activity on a Wednesday evening. A walking / bike path runs along the edge of the beach, providing easy access from various other parts of town. There were a lot of people... More

A lot of people are coming during the summer to this beach, with a picnic, BBQ, dogs and friends. A lovely ambient.

I was lucky enough to go on a day when the sunset was beautiful. This beach was easy to find. It has room for lots of activities, from sitting on logs watching the sun go down, to playing volleyball or catch. It does get busy so it's not a place to go for peace and quiet. The view is quite... Staying in West End

Neighbourhood Profile
West End
A hodgepodge of landscapes, the West End combines verdant gardens and blocky modern architecture, with Victorian bits and Edwardian bobs in between. It is a paradise for takeout food, take-away coffee, and perhaps incongruously, some of Vancouver's most languid lines of beachfront. English Bay and Sunset Beach invite swimmers, strollers, and picnic-lovers to take in dusk settling over the water, or to jog along with the sunrise, offering breathtaking views at any time of day. The West End merges together so many looks and flavors probably because it functions a hub: its the leafy pit-stop between nightlife and entertainment venues along Davie Street, and the shopping paradise that is Robson Street, offering visitors beautiful parkland to rest on, and quick, easy food to re-fuel with in between ventures.
