It's hard to describe how much fun we had with Chromer Sport Fishing for our first time fly fishing. My son and I were complete novices and our guide Tom was patient, encouraging and extremely knowledgeable. All aspects of the trip were covered from gear, to snacks/water and several locations to choose from in order to best chase the fish. The day was perfect, our expectations were certainly exceeded and we are looking forward to booking another trip(s) in the near future. It's one thing to get a wannabe fisherman hooked but Tom did a great job getting my 9 year old son obsessed about it. There wasn't a dull moment and never did we feel out of place. We HIGHLY recommend Chromer Sport Fishing to one and all.

We Drifted the lower Squamish River with Yos and Pat and had an awesome experience. I have had several fish guides and I used to guide myself and these guys are top of the table. The equipment was first class, they were a pleasure to be around and they knew exactly what they were doing; we were in great hands. I would highly recommend this trip to anyone who is looking for a fishing adventure close to the city that offers you the experience of feeling like you are in the middle of nowhere.

Brought a friend up with me for my first time fishing the Squamish. Chromer had a half day available on short notice and would wave the gear rental fee, so I booked it.
I knew in advance that the timing wasn’t the best for catching but at worst I’d be on the river and have 4 hours of casting practice/instruction.
Jon, our guide was very personable, helpful and as you would expect, knowledgeable. He got us setup and on the river in short order. That meant getting my friend (an experienced fly fisherman) up to speed and set up for success, before turning to me to begin the remediation process of my cast.
Thanks to Jon’s patience and encouragement (and diligence on my part) by the end of the session I could make a reasonable cast and had plenty to think about before my next outing.
It was definitely a slow day for catching. I only saw 3 pinks taken in the 4 hours we were there, but I’m happy to say that one of them was on my friend’s line.
All credit to Jon for making our trip enjoyable, informative and entertaining
I can only imagine how great the experience would have been had our timing been better, but I can still highly recommend Chromer as a guide service, and our guide Jon in particular.
Thanks guys,
Dan

Superb mixed weekend of Spey instruction and then fishing. Tim was clear in his instruction and his examples, and gave small verbal nudges that were really excellent at helping get the line out. He didn't spend too much time on each verbal instruction but had us on the water really quickly to practise what he had shown us. We would come back for instruction on each new technique which meant it broke up the morning into very manageable parts. He would watch each of us practising the technique and then give us little hints to improve it. Whether the wind is up or down stream and regardless of the side of the bank I now feel able to put out a cast that is safe and effective.
Good safety instruction for the rafts, one felt really safe all the time and very well looked after. Pat put us over so many fish, and with Tim advising us when we were actually trying to catch fish made the instruction really stick.
A great weekend despite the freezing rain, and wind! Food really hit the spot and scenery was spectacular.

If you're looking for a fishing trip in Vancouver and the surrounding areas here in BC, I'd say stop looking and hook up with Chromer.
A friend and I took a fly fishing course the other day with Yos from Chromer. He was a wealth of information and had answers for all of my endless questions.
When you're just trying to get into an activity it's those who guide you in the beginning that can make or break your interest.
Chromer definitely helped increase my interest and need to get out on the water.
You can tell when someone has a true depth of knowledge when they're not just reciting a memorized dialogue. Yos was able to shift the lesson and answer questions in the moment as they came up and clearly knows fly fishing, these waters, and the broader region.
It's fair to say that the year 2020 has been a bit of a show. Finding some new knowledge and interest in fly fishing might be one of the only saving graces of an otherwise strange time.
I'd say call them now, book a trip get some time on the water to clear your mind and learn something new.

From the initial booking to the end of the trip, Yos and the team were easily accessible, friendly and have unparalleled expertise and knowledge of the Squamish river system. Despite tough conditions Pat managed to get us on some beautiful trout throughout the day.
If you are looking for a guide in Squamish, these guys are the ones you need to look up.

4 of has had a full day drift down the awesome Squamish River with 2 fantastic guides.
I have been on many guided trips and all have been a good experience but this particular trip was one notch above due to it being my first drift and the enthusiasm and knowledge of the guides Yos and Pat. Even though we are experienced fishermen we all learned new things that day from our guides..
The weather was beautiful and we all hooked multiple fish. The fish in this system are strong and they challenged our fly and spey rods.
Yos and Pat had multiple rods and other equipment for us to use if we wanted to try something different. They tied their own flies and leaders for us when we would get snagged up or have fish break off. Absolutely fantastic service on the water that got us back to fishing quickly.
Honestly, if I didn't even catch a fish I would re-book a trip like this with Cromer.
To take in the incredible scenery and wildlife while drifting the river is an adventure on it's own.
Yos and Pat are so in tune with their environment they can at times predict what we may see as we float down the river. Pat was telling me about a black bear that he has seen on many occasions. He even pointed out it's personality. About 1 hr later that beautiful bear stuck it's head over a log and looked at us while we were speaking on the bank.
Thank-you Yos and Pat for an unforgettable day and I look forward to seeing the both of you again in the future.

From the first steps of reserving a day-long drift on the Squamish to receiving the confirmation with full instructions of what to expect, to meeting the guide "Pat" at the exact right location at the exact time and then yes, the excellent day long drift was all top-notch. The fishing was not easy, that is why it is is "fishing", but our guide got us in some great areas, we worked hard and caught a number of bulls and rainbows. Pat's knowledge of fishing and the area, his boat skills and a ton of other interesting things made the trip a memorable experience. Chromer Fishing Trips is a great asset to the region and a super choice for fishing the Squamish and surrounding area. Full marks to Chromer and especially to Pat - he is the best.

This was my second trip with Chromer Sports and again treated to a spectacular day on the river with Austin.
This time we hit the upper Squamish chasing steelhead and trout. I was expertly looked after as we fished various bits or water and fine tuning my Spey casting to present the fly as well as possible!
The conditions were tough and unfortunately no fish this time but if steelhead were easy they wouldn’t be as special! That’s fly fishing! What I can say is it was one of my best days on the river as what a spectacular place to fish. Just look at the photos! I will definitely be back and be using Chromer again while gain experience fishing in BC.

You know you're fishing with the right company when it feels like you're out there sharing the river with good friends.
Lots of great fishing action and most of all, ill never forget how careful and respectful our guide, Pat, was when handling fish, that right there is a reason to recommend these guys.
Ambassadors for our steelhead.

I am looking for a fishing trip for my partner, it will just be him, do you offer group trips or will he need a charter to himself?

Hi,
They'll do a one-to-one without any problem I believe. Suggest you get in touch with Yos and explain your requirements. He was very helpful.
Cheers

Hi Caroline. We offer a variety of trips including fly fishing, sturgeon fishing and salmon fishing. Often people ask if we catch halibut near Vancouver on our saltwater charters and the answer is no we don’t. There really isn’t anywhere to target halibut close to Vancouver, just some honest advice! If you’d like a Vancouver salmon fishing charter please let us know and we can happily get you set up with the best guides in town!

Are alcoholic beverages allowed while fishing and enjoying a day out in the boat!?
Written March 30, 2017
Absolutely. Our Guide encouraged us to bring along a hip flask. Just enjoy responsibly!
Written March 31, 2017
Hi Curt. Sorry for the very late reply on this, didn't see it. In June we don't have much for river fishing, we focus on saltwater salmon fishing for Chinook (king) salmon and then we also do quite a bit of lake fishing in Whistler for rainbow and cutthroat trout if you're looking to fly fish. Hope this helps, let's us know if you have any other questions.
