This beach was by far, our favourite. There is a short and easy hike to the beach from the parking lot. That had amazing views. Once on the beach, we couldn't believe how many shells there were. The kids loved it! You could see so...More

It fit all my criteria: not too long, easy hike (modest elevation changes), well marked trail and a lovely beach. We had a little difficulty finding the right parking. If you're a day visitor, there's a separate parking area for day use. If you're an...More

Large and clean sites. Doubles and singles with lots of green belt between. Pit toilets, water tap, garbage and recycle recepticals. This is a good way to "leave it all behind". 34 km before Port Renfrew on the beautiful Westcoast. Firewood for purchase, friendly staff,...More

We took the 90 minute drive out to China Beach. Did the hike to Mystic Beach first (east side of the day use area parking lot). What a gorgeous approximately 40 minute hike through the forest and over a suspension bridge. Quite a few stairs...More

China Beach is a beautiful, sandy beach that seems to stretch on for miles! The surf pounds on the way to the beach in typical West Coast fashion. The trail down to the beach is a wide, fairly well maintained one with some steps closer...More

About 90 minutes West of Victoria, there is not much on the South coast of Vancouver Island other than lots of trees, windy road and wonderful country. Just past the village of Jordan River (one cafe and not much else) are the turn-offs for China...More

This is a bit of a drive but totally worth it! After you walk about 15 minutes down a well looked after path, you walk out into paradise. You feel miles away from the rest of the world (cause you kind of are). It is...More

If you are travelling on the Island and cannot make it to Tofino, China Beach is a nice alternative. It is on a much smaller scale, of course, but the beach is stunning and the trees magnificent. It was about a 15 minute walk down,...More

Even in the off season when this place can be rather stormy, it is still a great place to visit. The beach is a mixture of sand, grit, and pebbles and it certainly not a golden, groomed beach for sunbathers (thank goodness!). If staying at...More

There's lots near there, look it up on TripAdvisor. One is Fossil Bay Resort, mid-way between Sooke and China Beach, another is Mystic Beach Vacation Home.
