Two outstanding instructors made this introduction to kayak surfing an exhilarating experience. Yves and Patti are highly skilled at both beginner and advanced instruction. Always attuned to the needs and abilities of individuals, we surfed in lesser and stronger surf, punching out and making safe landings. Their trained eyes picked out the perfect beach and places to learn the various skills. This was two days of skill building, confidence building and sheer fun!! Thank you Yves and Patti!

Side surfing in the soup at Chesterman Beach with rising tide, swell and wind through day 1, punching out and surfing back in the same on day 2. Confidence that Yves and Patti were always there to assist and make sure my experience was a safe and positive learning experience. They selected the perfect areas at Chesterman for our training and practice on each of the 2 days of the Surf Course, even though rising swell on the flood opposed strengthening cross-winds.

The 2-day surf course at Tofino was a blast ! My goal was to get more competent in the surf, mainly to become a safer west coast paddler. What puts Yves and Patti at the top of kayak instruction is their teaching methods - they develop your skills, step-by-step, at a pace that fits with your needs. You can expect personalized and timely feedback when you are working on new skills. And, you will be challenged as much as you want. This was about my 5th course with Go Kayak. I've learned so much from them. After the course was completed they emailed all participants with a YouTube video taken on our course and a summary of the skills we learned. I have taken many lessons with Patti and Yves, the most recent being a surf course at Tofino. They are such fun instructors, but also knowledgeable and good teachers. I highly recommend Go Kayak for kayaking instruction. (And I have taken lots of lessons from lots of different people!)

Yves and Patti obviously love to kayak and to teach and they are unfailingly positive and encouraging. I felt very safe with them, and that they empowered me to be safe in the future as well.

It was delightful to paddle with Patti and Yves. They are both perceptive, highly-skilled, adaptable and detail oriented-teachers, which doesn't stop them from also being relaxed, approachable and funny. This makes for a really positive (bilingual!) learning atmosphere and just an overall great day learning rock gardening in Port Renfrew. I can't wait to learn from them again!

What's not to like? Yves and Patti are not only knowledgeable professionals, but the energy, joy and humour they inject into all their clinics is unmatched, and all the more appreciated because of the down-to-earth people that they are. Attention to safety, pragmatic detail, group dynamics, individual risk tolerance and sensitivities, as well as a dedication to everyone having an enjoyable learning experience make Go Kayak one of the best training options anywhere. We learned so much with Yves and Patti during a day customised for our abilities and destination! They gave us the skills and tools we need, tailored for our 5-day trip later this summer, and with such joy and enthusiasm and wonderful support. An amazing enjoyable day with them!
