Always a great trip. I live a couple of hours away, but like to get to the film festival each year. Absolutely wonderful movies this year. All about creation. They don’t mention Jehovah, but they do mention mother nature. I enjoyed each one. I am an annual membership owner, so love to do the IMAX when I’m in town. Good popcorn too. They know all about extra butter.🙄🤗

I swear the seats are not designed for shorter people, the curve of the seat at the head made my head push forward, now, my husband who is 6 foot, said the seat was perfect for him. I think next time I will bring a cushion to sit on. I am 5’3”.
The venue is lovely. The people nice. The movie we watched excellent.

We had a connection with the film we went to see here, and it was a great experience, with stunning sound, immersive visuals. The theatre itself was great, clean, and the seats were very comfortable, and staff were friendly. We had some time to spare in Victoria, and it was an excellent way to fill it - we hadn't been to an IMAX show in a long time.

We are a local family and enjoy visiting the Museum. We hadn't been to an IMAX since before Covid (Mar. 2020), so it has been a couple of years. We have two young children, 7 and 9, and saw the Humpback Whales show today. It was uncomfortably loud. Starting with the opening previews, my 7 year old was almost in tears, with her hands pressed over her ears. We made it through the movie, but even my ears were hurting during the louder parts. Afterward I had remembered one of my friends telling me that they usually bring noise-canceling headphones for their children if they go to the Victoria IMAX. My question is, why doesn't the theatre just turn it down? My kids are just fine at our regular movie theatres. We won't be going back to the IMAX until this problem is resolved.

We met 2 older men who sold there museum so well! They took their time to ask us where we came from, what we were interested in, and showed and told us about the indigenous population on Vancouver Island. Such a great experience!

Dear Maps36377520829,
Thank you for your visit to the museum (before we closed due to Covid-19).
It's good to know that you enjoyed your visit and that you were greeted so nicely. I suspect that the two gentleman you refer to are part of our valued volunteer team who often make visitors feel welcome while helping with additional information. We couldn't do it without them!
We look forward to hosting you again soon once we’re able to re-open.
Kindest regards,
Paul Wild | Theatre Director, IMAX Victoria | Inside the Royal BC Museum

What a movie!! Fantastic movie, beautiful in IMAX format, and very comfortable (lots of leg room, soft seats) seating, and fabulous sound system. The school group were obviously very taken with the movie also, as they were stone silent throughout!

Dear Robert,
Thank you for taking the time to leave a review for Apollo 11. We couldn't agree more that the film was well done and even though we all know the outcome; it was amazing how tense you felt watching that massive Saturn rocket prepare for lift off!
That being said, all good things come to an end, and Apollo 11 has left the schedule. In fact, due to Covid-19 and under the advice of the health authorities, the theatre is currently closed (today's date March 20).
We look forward to re-opening and making this large immersive format available to everyone again. - hopefully soon.
Kindest regards,
Paul Wild

We liked this place so much we took in 5 different shows in 2 days..
We saw 3 shows in 3D and 2 in regular viewing. They schedule some of the shows in both 3d or regular viewing so if you don't like 3d you can opt for a regular viewing of the same show. The website tells you which ones are scheduled for 3D. We enjoyed both types of viewings. The large screen makes even the regular viewing very realistic and exciting.
We watched the 3D movies from 2 different spots - from up by the back and also from about 6 rows up from the front. I preferred the location 6 rows from the front as the 3D was so realistic from there. It felt like it was touching me. It didn't feel quite like that when we were further back.
My favourites.
Born to be Wild. Sweet! Would be great for kids also.
Mountain Quest. This mountain climbing adventure had spectacular scenery and high adventure.

Didn't think this was my kind of movie but really enjoyed it! Great for a mixed group, something for everyone. The IMAX experience really brings the movie to life.

Dear carolsE8625RO,
Thank you for your review and glad to hear you enjoyed the film.
As someone once said to me "you don't need to be a petrol head to enjoy the film." It's so true! The show has been very popular on our screen and with the two Oscars it won last night (for Best Film Editing and Best Sound Editing), we've added another week on the schedule Feb 21-27, 2020.
Kindest regards,
Paul Wild

Crazy awesome film of BC’s Great Bear Rain Forest. It’s almost like you are right there in the mist, walking by the river and observing the Spirit Beat up close. Really recommend it.

Dear Cheryl,
Thank you for your recent visit and review of the Great Bear Rainforest. The film is beautiful and has been hugely popular since we opened it. So much so, in fact, that we haven't been able to take it off the schedule!
It will, however, leave the schedule Jan 24 thru to Feb 27 to make room for our 2020 IMAX Victoria Film Festival. Afterwards, GBR will return on Feb 28 when we also open Sea Lions: Life by a Whisker.
We look forward to hosting you again soon!
Kindest regards,
Paul Wild

Hello - we are considering staying at this resort in July. We are two families of 4, four adults plus two 15 year olds and two 12 year old children. Has anyone stayed in the 3 bedroom suite? Would it be big enough to accommodate our two families?
