Too many corny lines to use; I did have a purpose for being here.

It is a nice grave yard to spend some time; however, I was on a specific mission. I was in search a a grave site for a family member. There are many areas of interest(historical people and an area for service people) There is a society taking care and mapping the area. The map and system of grave markers is... More

I shall start with a criticism: one needs a map, indicating places of rest of historical and other people of interest. Unfortunately none were available. We enjoyed strolling around and we did manage to locate some of those graves. If you find cemeteries interesting, this is definitely one to visit.

The cemetery has some of the most historically significant dead people from Victoria's colonial past. The other Greater Victoria cemeteries with this much history are the Veterans Cemetery in Esquimalt and Harling Point Chinese Cemetery in Oak Bay. High school students like to visit Ross Bay Cemetery on Halloween for fun, some of them get bad and naughty. When I... More

An expansive quiet Cemetery in a very pretty area on the shores of the ocean. A nice place for a quiet walk.

Every Sunday the local cemetery society meets at Ross Bay Pub - across Fairfield Road from the Cemetery to lead guided tours. The guides are members of the historical society and wealth of knowledge. During late October - Halloween 'season' the tours are 'ghost' tours where the guides take some liberties with local lure. If Sunday at 2 does not... More

A really beautiful place to visit in the fall. Lots of history. Went here with family last fall and spent a few hours wandering around.

If cemeteries with local historic significance are of interest, Ross Bay will be worth a visit. It can't compete with those in more ancient societies but for Canada it's about as ancient as we can get. Victoria was one of the first West Coast ares to be settled and some of the pioneers are buried here. There are sections for... More

Our family often visits cemeteries when on holiday as it's a great way to learn some history and visit spaces that are generally peaceful and beautiful. This cemetery is very old and holds such incredible history. Tours are available but you can also find maps on line to direct you to graves of many dignitaries, politicians, historical figures. Emily Carr's... More

That's the question Tripadvisor asked me. "Well no, not REALLY interested, TA. Thank you for asking." I mean it's a beautiful old cemetery and there are lots of chunks of polished engraved rocks all over which in a certain context are nice, but for cryin' out loud it's a place where bodies are everywhere, separated from you by a thin...
