I went there with my daughter forget activities. Victoria is a nice and comfortable city. Not too big, not too small. It is safe for her ( she want to go to UVIC) to live. I like there.

We walked around the beautiful grounds after visiting Craigdarroch Castle. It is just a shot walk between these two attractions. It is free to walk the grounds at the Government House.

The history of this property is wonderful. The gardens are more than amazing! They are bloom most of the year and you can do a brisk loop around the property or take you time and enjoy the views and blooms.

Thinking Government House was solely for potential kings and political dignitaries, I was pleasantly surprised to be able to access the beautiful grounds, gardens and historical carriage house. Have tea and treats in the volunteer run tea house, you will be glad to have stopped...More

The day we went we were not able to visit the house, but we spent an hour or so strolling the gorgeous grounds. We even spied 4 deer eating flowers for their lunch! We enjoyed seeing them, but I'm not sure the groundskeeper would have...More

We stumbled across this place and i'm glad we did. While you aren't able to tour the house the grounds and gardens are varied and beautiful to walk around. There are formal rose gardens and less formal paths and rock gardens. It is dog friendly...More

Escaped the mob at the castle to explore this huge, beautiful property, an expansive estate with a huge variety of garden vignettes, from roses, to rock garden, to a forest of native garry oaks. Lots of benches and views. With better planning, would've brought a...More

The Government House, which offers a free tour every month, is beautiful in its architecture and furnishings, and it is also full of the history of British Columbia. An informative, entertaining, and awe-inspiring tour!

Wow what a nice surprise! My wife suggested we visit, having read about this 'hidden gem', so we did so right after a trip to Craigdarroch Castle, nearby. Govt House was a pleasant surprise, on a beautiful day, which made it even better. We got...More

The the grounds are very rarely closed - the last time was when the Prince and Princess and children stayed there. Other than that, I can't recall a time when the grounds were not open to the public.
