So glad we stumbled across this activity when researching our Canada Trip. Felt so surreal to be floating along, up to our necks in steaming Epsom Salt solution, our heads almost level with the chilly waters of the bay! Had the company of a seal for part of our journey too :) We may have missed info on their website, but we weren't sure if we needed to take our own towels - we did! Changing facilities are a bit basic, but just about adequate. We did a late afternoon trip, hoping to catch a sunset - unfortunately it was too cloudy, but we did enjoy seeing the city lights coming on during the return leg of our cruise. Wished we'd paid more attention to exactly where we'd immerged from the dock onto the main waterway, as finding our way back in among all the other (much bigger) boats moored up was a bit of a challenge!

Super fun experience! Boat was very clean. Customer service was lovely. Very unique activity to do. Easy to learn how to steer the boat. Music speaker and drinking water was a great touch.

This was so much fun and the folks who run the company are the best. Personally we are the type of people who find it hard to ever justify spending money, but this was completely worth it. So much fun. We'll definitely be doing this again.

The service was fantastic—very friendly and professional. The hot tug was clean and perfectly hot. Loved the Bluetooth speaker and thoughtful inclusion of bottled water.

Unfortunately, you can only “sail” in the industrial area. You will pass a literal dump. It’s not a part of Victoria we would ever willingly boat by; the romance is mitigated by all the construction and waste sites.

However no complaints w the service and we did enjoy ourselves. Just be prepared for industrial views and sounds.

We appreciate your review of your experience with Hot Tub Boat Victoria. Thank you for your kind words about our service and the boats. The waterway we operate on is very clean with constantly improving conditions. There is an annual swim fest and swimmers use this waterway every year (with frequent water testing)! The waterway transitions as you head up it, as it’s ideal for moving and transporting materials - there is no “dump.” In the upper harbour we have the Point Hope Shipyard which does dry dock work and has highly regulated pollution and spill monitoring. A gravel shipping yard sits just beside the Bay Street Bridge which uses barges to shiploads of gravel products by a tug. Just beyond that is a metal recycling yard that also ships metal off the island by barge and tug. Spot the crushed vehicles! Then there is housing, businesses, and restaurants near the picturesque Selkirk trestle area which transitions further into a park and natural spaces for migratory birds, fish, and animals like otters. There was a history of the Gorge Waterway being polluted in the past and many strides have been made to bring this area back into balance. We feel this is a very important point to share and look forward to providing more education on the area. Often our customers share that they enjoy the unique view from the hot tub boat that showcases the many sides of Victoria (natural and industrial) that you otherwise might not see! Hopefully, this feedback is helpful to future potential renters. We pride ourselves on our product and the area we operate in. It has something different to offer no matter where you are!

This trip was a Christmas gift from our son and daughter-in-law and it was a wonderful experience. We went at 3:00 on a sunny January afternoon, with no wind and a very light ebb tide running, so conditions were perfect. Joe showed us our safety video, helped us into the lovely hot tub, and with our playlist on the provided speaker, off we went.

As Joe predicted, at our stately top speed we were passed by the only other boaters out that day, some kayakers. Lots of ducks, loons and a blue heron, and lots of bicycle commuters on the adjacent trail, all of them envious of us, I’m sure.

We tootled up the Gorge to the Sellkirk Bridge, did a quick circuit of the rocky island there, and headed back towards downtown. We didn’t try swimming, at our age we were somewhat concerned about climbing aboard on the ladder, but we did dip our feet in the water to cool off before popping back into the tub.

We had hoped to see the lights on the Johnson Street Bridge come on, but we had to be back at 5:00 and they don’t come on until 5:15 or so at this time of year. We did have a spectacular sunset though, truly epic.

Altogether, we found Hot Tub Boat Victoria to be a first class operation, with everything, from booking, to sailing, to docking, to be effortless and fantastic.

We went with another couple and had a great time! A quick and easy tutorial at the start and we were on the water. Make sure you jump in the ocean for a dip to cool off along the way! Highly recommend adding this to you activities while in Victoria.
