About
Join us for a magical sail aboard the historic Tall Ship Duen. Smell the gentle ocean breeze as it lures you away from the dock through Victoria’s bustling Inner Harbour and out into the beautiful Strait of Juan de Fuca. All guests young and old are encouraged to participate in sailing, so come prepared to tug on the sheets that haul the sails! As we cruise towards the magnificent snow-capped Olympic Mountains, take a turn on the bowsprit or see the majesty of the ship under full sail from our inflatable vessel. Relax and savor your picnic or a sip of wine as we keep our eyes peeled for some of BC’s world famous killer whales, or sea lions and bald eagles. We offer three hour sailing trips and 1.5 hour evening cruises, as well as private charters. Contact us today to get on board!

We had a private sailing with my company, I took my 3 years old toddler on this 82 years old Norwegian sail boat, she absolutely loved it. She even got hands on a real steering wheel.
We captured sunset views on the water on the way back from Sooke. There was a cruise ship about to depart by the seawall, so we saw people were cheering and waving hands to us from the giant ship which was such an unexpected joyful moment.

A lovely sunset sail--calm at sea and oh, so quiet. Lovely view of Mt. Baker! Intriguing boat history.
As a local, this gave me such a unique view of my own city, especially with our twilight return with lights coming on.
Really, feels like a must do as this intimate setting gets one out on the water meeting fellow travellers (can take 12), enjoying the sailing life and getting to talk with the knowledgeable captain and first mate.
As a 60 something, I dare you to take on the net suspended below the prow!

Fantastic trip with Mike & Roman sailing this beautiful Duen out of Victoria Harbour.
Wonderful opportunity for my teenage sons to hear about he history of the great tall ship and learn how she sails from hoisting the sails to standing out on the jib to a spin in the zodiac around the bay and a look at the Canadian Naval Dock

We had an amazing trip out when Mike heard from an other boat that there were Orcas in the area. We were asked if we wanted to whale watch or sail. We said whale watch and watch we did. We then sailed in the bay of the navy and back to the harbour. A special trip.
Thank you

Captain Mike and First Mate Rowan gave us the most amazing three hours we can remember. The Duen is a lovely lady, very trim and seaworthy. Even the most landlubbiest would be comfortable. The tour took us out of the harbour and over to Esquimalt. The winds were gentle but our two intrepid hosts coaxed the most out of the sails. A thrilling experience. Everyone on our trip had a splendid trip. Happy 70th Birthday Kate!! We can’t wait to go on a sunset cruise. The Duen has so much history and she is a Lucky boat, to be an over 80year old wooden boat with so much life in her is impressive. Thank you Captain Mike and Rowan. Everything is better on the water and under sail.

First time on a sail boat for my family and I, we did the evening cruise. Thank you Captain Mike and first mate Rowan for a special birthday memory. You made us feel like a part of the crew, so kind and friendly, highly enjoyed chatting with them while taking in a beautiful view and sunset. We got to help hoist the sails and steer the ship. Also got to be a little adventurous and climb onto the netting of the ship's bow!
The crew are very knowledgeable about the vessel. The Duen has an amazing history, it was a privilege to be welcomed aboard such a beautiful ship. We look forward to returning for another sailing in the near future!
Tip: It can get quite cold in the evening on the water, so bring a sweater/jacket!

Learned a lot about sailing and enjoyed the beautiful scenery. My brother was able to help raise the sails while the rest of us just relaxed.

Embarked on the shorter sunset cruise out of the harbour. Magnificent boat and Captain Mike and crew were very friendly and welcoming (and great photographers!). Great to see the sailing boat in action and it’s fantastic that you can get involved as much as you like or just sit back and enjoy the experience of sail. Thank you for a great end to our Canada trip.

Captain Mike and First Mate Isabel were knowledgeable, fun and enthusiastic about the Duen and sailing in general. They shared some great stories of experiences at sea. It was wonderful to see the Victoria Inner Harbor and along the south coast of the island from the water, learning a bit about the history on the way! Sit out on the bowsprit for a fun view! We will go again!

I believe so. When we mentioned we want to go on a sunset cruise Captain Mike mentioned folks bring wine. Would be best if you had plastic glasses. People bring food, snacks, cheese. It would be perfect.

Hi, just wondering how often you see whales, dolphins, and other ocean creatures?
Three-Hour Sail
Victoria, Canada
Hi there! We are not a whale watching tour per se, but we do get the occasional whale sighting on our trips. We often see seals, eagles, and herons on our tour, and on occasion we are visited by orcas, humpbacks, and porpoises. However because we are a sailing vessel, we don't have the capacity to search out wildlife- we would rather it come to us! Thanks for your question!

I am coming on Royal Caribean on June 16.....Do you pick up at the boat????
Three-Hour Sail
Victoria, Canada
We could pick you up there if need be, however; there are shuttles that goes from the Cruise Ship Terminal to the inner harbour. If you get off across from the Empress Hotel we are right there. Unfortunately, we do not have any available sails between June 13 and June 20 as we will be participating in the Tacoma Festival of Sail during that time.
We hope you have a wonderful time in our beautiful city and look forward to sailing with you aboard Tall Ship Thane at another time.
BC'ing ya!
