I'm a book lover and a tea drinker, and on Government Street you will find Monro's Books and Murchie's Tea side by side; a most wonderful setup! First I stop at Monro's when hubby and I visit Victoria, and the delicious smell of brand new books greets your nose as you enter. There is a good selection of greeting cards... More

Victoria has a big selection of bookstores, even just in the downtown/waterfront area, and Munro's is, in my opinion, one of the finest. It's not the largest, but when you combine the selection, obviously carefully selected, and the warm, superbly friendly staff, it's a wonderful store for book enthusiasts. If you love books, Munro's is not to be missed.

Munro's is one of the last independent book stores in Canada. The staff are very knowledgeable and accommodating when requests are asked. There is a book for every connoisseur of books. It is right next to Murchies the tea and coffee shop.

My kids and I spent quite awhile wandering around in here the other day. And we were approached by a couple of staff asking us if we could help which was nice to see. They were able to help all of us it turns out and we each left with a few new books under my arm. I adore this... More

Book stores, authentic book stores are rare but Munro's is a classic for those who love to read, and want unique books. The staff are SO fantastic because there is always someone who can help you find a book, even when you don't have all the information about it. The staff are people who treasure books and want you to... More

Located in a historic bank, the book store lives up to its reputation as one of the worlds top 10 bookstores. We have made a point of visiting many of the other bookstores on this short list. Warm environment, friendly knowledgable staff. Wonderful range of hard and soft cover books.

For readers this place is almost like a pilgrimage. The bookstore, located in a former bank, is gorgeous and like an Ali Baba cave, it has so many shelves one could spend hours in it. The late Mr. Munro was of course the former husband of Canada's Nobel prize winner, Alice Munro. Independent bookstores are a dying breed and this... More

This is a great bookshop located in downtown Victoria. It has a wide selection of local and Canadiana books. Highly recommended and worth a stop.
