Went here for my first ever visit to a live ice hockey match ... and I wasn't disappointed. Good size arena, quality sound system and it was exciting to watch the Victoria Royals play the Prince George Cougars. Plenty of outlets to get drinks and fast food plus a well stocked shop for "all things ice hockey"!
Altogether a grand night out.

Facility was clean, efficient, comfortable. We had great seats. Sound was good. We took as shuttle, so didn't have to deal with parking or anything.

For the size of the city and the hockey market here, this is the right size arena.
The local team is pretty enjoyable to watch and the acoustics are decent for concerts.

This venue is like the larger one’s in big cities, however it is scaled down in size - capacity is 7,400 .. we went here the other day for 2nd day of Vancouver Canucks training camp. Have also been here for concerts - great sound & can be closer

I traveled to Victoria BC for a concert at the Save on foods memorial center. Saw the band Metric and July Talk. Both bands put on a good performance. Emily Haines looks great; healthier and younger than the last time I saw Metric perform in Portland. The sound and visuals were very good. I would definitely se another concert here

Okay, admittedly the header of this review is something of an inside joke. But now that I've got that out of the way: Opened in 2005, the Save-On-Foods Memorial Centre is a great small arena. Sure, it lacks the size of, say, GM Place but that’s part of its charm. Unlike its larger counterpart in Vancouver, this 7,000 seat facility is able to house and maintain an intimate atmosphere whether you’re attending a sporting event, concert or tradeshow. In that regard, I’d argue that Save-On-Foods doesn’t have a bad seat in the house. For example, I remember seeing “Ringo and his All-Starr Band” in 2015; the seats we’d selected were basically in the upper level of the seating tier. In most places, you’d call these “nose bleed” seats, but that wasn’t the case at Save-On-Foods; because of its relatively small size, we had a good view of the action down on stage. Having seen a number of live performances here over the years (with Rod Stewart being the most recent in 2018), I can attest to the quality of this place. The seating is good, the acoustics are great and the overall atmosphere makes every show seem special.
The food and drink concession services at the arena are pretty standard. If you’re able to read between the lines, that translates to “expensive,” especially for the quality you get: Poor Man’s poutine, pre-made popcorn, hot dogs and pizza. I’ve never bothered to get anything from the concession because, 1) It’s often VERY crowded and, 2) The quality just isn’t there for the high price point. BUT, to be fair, every arena partakes in this price gouging practice. The apparel stands are similar, but manageable. If you have cash on hand, be sure to shout it repeatedly . . . you know, in case the person running it says, “hey! You have cash! Skip ahead of these people ahead of you!” ;)
Lastly, the location is good. The arena is fairly central and within walking distance to a number of downtown hotels. Parking facilities are nearby and, importantly, there are a number of good eateries close at hand. Because the concession is mediocre, I’d recommend eating before you arrive. Romeo’s is just a short walk away and Szechuan Restaurant, dubbed by one person as home to the best food “in the world,” is virtually right across the street.
If I had to complain, I’d say that the arena seating could be improved at least a little. The hard chairs tend to get a little uncomfortable and cramped feeling after sitting in them for a couple of hours. So there’s that and, well, the name of the arena is also pretty silly. It’s far too corporate and illustrates the stranglehold large corporations have on arenas and stadiums these days. Besides that, though, I really can’t complain. After all, where else can you buy “cheap seats” and not need binoculars to see the show down below?

Great concert, great seats on the floor. Rod Stewart rocked even with a broken foot. Parking was free for this event.

First time we had been here. We went to see the Celtic Thunder concert, and it was fantastic. The sound & lighting were all great. We were quite impressed with the overall place. It's amazing how they can use this place for hockey games, and be able to transform it to have a concert.

If you want to enter 1940's fascist Germany, look no further! These guys are rent a cops who harass like no other. Worst security for a major venue I've ever seen.

I would like to know what kind of seating is in the stands...bleachers or regular chairs with arms? Are the seats cushioned or hard seats?
Thank you

There is a few sections called the club section. They are padded. The rest are hard plastic. They have no arms and are very uncomfortable. The padded seat are bearable.
If you do a concert the floor seats are folding chairs and they are zap strapped together in rows
