This square attracts lots of people on the weekends. It appears to be less vibrant these days with some of the original businesses gone and lease signs up all over. Much more could be made of this space.

I used to live in Victoria when market square first opened. It was bustling and always lots of outdoor entertainment.
Many shops are empty now......but there are still some great little shops to visit. All around market square area are many unique, funky shops. If you are looking for some great gifts then visit this area.

quiet little hideaway in the middle of the city. There are really neat little stores and gift shops and a really nice inner court to sit and enjoy a coffee, book or picnic lunch.

An open market in the middle of an old brick building. When we stopped by there was a band playing as part of a summer concert. Good food, nice wares.

This used to be a great little square of bustling shops and unique vendors; now many doors are closed, windows empty. The economy has not been kind here, though the buskers and the bead shop remain as well as a few others.

Market square is in an old building which has a lot of character, but the only businesses I remember being there were a vegetarian restaurant, a mexican restaurant, what looked to be a fabulous bead store, and and ice cream store. The neighborhood feels bohemian and edgy.

It's always a treat to visit this beautiful historical collage of buildings in the heart of Victoria. The shops are trendy and pricey, but the atmosphere is friendly and multicultural. It's a must-see on a Victoria visit.

I managed to spend 3 1/2 hours in the market. Rely enjoyed yhe bead store and the minatures store (not connected to the tourist attraction-Minature World- a few blocks away. Found it very interesting to watch the skilled craftsman make these unique minatures. Although o can't remember the restaurants name, we thourghly enjoyed a delicius at the Vegan Vegetarian restaraunt.

It is a cute little market area with some nice shops. Just off Wharf street and before you get to Chinatown. If you have a dog, they have a dog bakery (cater's to cats as well). They make homemade dog biscuits, which I am sure your dog will love. The market is for those who like quaint shops. It is also home to a vegetarian restaurant (did not stop for a bite).

Can you buy local produce and meats here? We are staying at a place that provides a kitchenette and wondered if you offered fresh foods?

The closest grocery store to downtown would be the Market on Yates at 903 Yates Street. I have walked there when I was staying at the Empress Hotel. Could also take a cab.
