Dave’s guided walk is really excellent and it’s a great way to find out about the city. Four of us went on the walking tour and we all really enjoyed it.

Me and my friend signed up for the tour as a fun way to learn a bit about the city, and we were not disappointed. Dave was really interesting and pointed out things we wouldnt of noticed on our own. The tour was supposed to only take 2 hours, however it ended up taking closer to two hours. It was all worth it though, just make sure to budget some extra time when booking the tour. I highly reccomend taking this tour, you get wonderful value out of it.

My husband and I spent a week in Victoria touring the area by bicycle. We decided to take a break from the bikes one day and signed up for the history and architecture walking tour. It was time well spent. Dave is a very knowledgeable and personable guide. He is very well versed in the history of Victoria and it’s buildings. I recommend this tour.

We met Dave at Empress Hotel and he led our group of 9 ranging in ages from 11-55 on an interesting inside look at Victoria. He was very knowledgeable and full of fun facts. WE booked a 2 1/2 hour walking tour and my two boys ages 12 and 15 wished we had gone longer. So did my husband and I! I highly recommend seeking out Dave and his tour!

Thank you for the great recommendation. With all the surviving Victorian-era buildings in downtown Victoria - and every building in has bit to tell of the city’s past - I have found that history and architecture form very natural combination.
I’m glad you mentioned ‘pace’. Being very flat and compact, Victoria’s downtown holds another interesting building and intriguing story right next door, or just around the corner, and this means my tours can be well-paced without having to spend a lot of time walking between locations. My 2-hour History & Architecture Walk typically entails about 25 stops and 2 kilometres (1.5 miles).
Thanks again!

Had the recent pleasure of participating in Dave’s fascinating History and Archetecture walking tour. His extensive knowledge combined with his obvious joy of sharing all that Victoria has to offer with others made for a very well spent two hours. The tour was well paced and very informative. If you are considering a walking tour this is the one. You won’t be disappointed.

Great recommendation, thank you!
I like the word ‘joy’. I am retired, so I conduct these tours because I very much enjoy doing them. Victoria is a delightful, historic, and architecturally rich city ... and we can all have fun critiquing architecture. As a guest on my tours you can always embrace the old line “I may not know architecture but I know what I like”!

This customized, private walking tour made our first visit to Victoria truly memorable. Dave has a tremendous sense of history and a deep understanding of how Victoria came to be and what makes it such a great place to visit. We spent two hours wandering downtown, seeing key features, learning the history, and getting great shopping and eating tips to boot. For a great time, book Dave!

Thanks for your excellent recommendation! A private walking tour is a great way to get to know this very special and walkable city. I will set up an itinerary to suit your schedule and interests. It often can be arranged on short notice ... and at a reasonable cost too. Thanks again!

I am part of a party of four (4) [seniors, love walking] who plan to be in Victoria on Saturday, August 26, arriving late morning or noon. Might there be a HA tour on that day about that time? Forrest

I was wanting to go on with my family on the Victoria city walking tour I have a sister visiting from Ohio and thought it would be nice to do this tour. She has been here in the past and done all the other tourist attractions over the years she has come to visit, but I thought this history tour would be wonderful for all of us even myself and my other family members too know as well the history of our beautiful Victoria. So where do I book and pay for this tour at the downtown visitors bureau?

Does this tour include a visit to Craigdarroch Castle?
Dave M

Hello,
It does not. Craigdarroch Castle and Hatley Castle are just too far from downtown Victoria to practically include in my walking tours ... But I do talk about the Dunsmuir family who built them.

Dave
