The Cathedral was elegant and lovely - outside and inside. We walked into this huge structure during our visit to Victoria this June. The inside was serene and cool. The organ was playing and we ambled along and looked at the arches, the ribbed roof and glass frescoes.

Too bad this beautiful church is right next to tent city where the homeless are living. We were so disgusted in the needles, smell and junk that filled the area. How could this even be allowed in such a nice city? The church is historic and gorgeous, just don't go too close because you may be questioned by some drunk, high homeless person for a cigarette or money.

The building is like all the other big piles of rock left around by empire builders: impressive atmosphere, nice stained glass, feeling of awe and permanence, impressive echo.
But.. there is a walking maze on the south side of the church, open all the time to everyone, that is special. Just go walk the maze. It's hard to explain. You will be.... Amazed!

I used to live in View Towers and suffered the bells of this church for 4 yrs so now I'm happy for the opportunity to blast back. The bells peel at least 6-7 times a week for at least an hour at a time. They clang at random-never a proper tune. They do nothing but ruin the sleep and peace of everyone within at least a 10 block radius. As an atheist, these blasted hells bells are nothing but a major nuisance. Enough!

Came for the wonderful building and stayed for evensong and music that soared and brought you back home again refreshed and relaxed.

In city centers it is often difficult to find a serene and special palace of tranquility. Suggest you visit and walk around the worship space and pause in front of each stained glass window. They are all unique and different and tell a story you can imagine as the donor describes to the artist what they feel is important.

Be sure to visit on a Sunday to hear the fabulous choir and magnificent organ. Many concerts and organ recitals are presented at the Cathedral, which has a large four manual Wolff pipe organ which sounds from the rear balcony. Worth hearing!

I took part in a Church Parade here with 300 sea cadets - I'm not a church-goer by any means, but the architecture
in this beautiful church is astounding.

The Christ Church Cathedral Is very much like one of the Gothic churches of the Middle Ages. I enjoyed the self-guided tour and the background of what you were seeing in the pamphlet provided. The stain glass windows are so colorful. We were fortunate in a man who helped at the church gave us some added information and made sure we didn't miss any of the grandeur of the cathedral. I like it that it is open to the public, not just to tour, but also so a person can sit and meditate.

I visited Victoria over the Easter Holiday so I attended Easter services at Christ Church cathedral - It was a lovely high Mass. The ushers were very welcoming. I can recommend should you find yourself in Victoria on a Sunday morning - walking distance from the Empress.

I am sorry that our visitors are being subjected to "Tent City" while they are trying to enjoy some of our historical site, such as Christ Church Cathedral! Please do not think any less of our beautiful city; this is a temporary, HOPEFULLY, setback, and that you will reconsider visiting again. I agree that it is disgusting (I won't go near there, either). It should be cleared out before September, this year. I hope you enjoyed the rest of your visit, in a more desirable area and other beautiful sites to see. Most of us here, want them out of there, but, it will take time, and some pushing by the government and our mayor!

I agree that it is better to enjoy the church by viewing it without looking across the way yet the inside has not changed.
While the tent city seems abhorrent, it is a statement of how the wealth of a nation is in the hands of but a few without caring for those who have experienced financial and societal violence, often due to circumstances beyond their control. While visiting the cathedral say a prayer for the less fortunate.

There is no cost for admission and you can donate if you wish. It is heated and is open I think from around 0830 to 1800 at night so most of the day(may need to check times for closing).

There is no admission rate. There are tours of the bell tower...really worthwhile. You can just wander in and around the cathedral any day....I am not sure of the exact hours, sorry.
