Had family visiting in Vancouver so decided to take them down to Victoria and do a whale watching tour, there were lots of companies to choose from but POW seemed the most professional. Took the 12:15 tour on the 17th didnt see whales but our guide Andrea did a great job of making the tour interesting, informative and fun. She... More

We decided to go on the Zodiac and were warned that it might be rough. That was the understatement of the year, but we loved it. We were given suits that did pretty well but we did come home wet, it was very rough weather and we are sore today but so glad we experienced it. We did see whales,... More

I've been on a few whale watching trips and I finally saw killer whales on this trip. We were so glad we opted for the Zodiac, which added so much more to the experience. Great guide, only 8 of us on the boat, it went super fast and we covered a lot of water to finally find the pod of... More

5th time out on the Ocean Magic II - another memorable trip and got to see the transient Orcas for the first time. We had to travel quite far this trip, about 1 hour and 30 minutes to see them but it was worth the wait as we saw about 12 of them swimming close together including two large males... More

Darwin, Thanks for the awesome review! You're one of our seasoned professionals (you've been on more trips than our current naturalists-in-training haha!) I'm so glad you've been able to come out with us several times and experience the wide variety of wildlife the Salish Sea has to offer. I remember this trip, it was a long run, but SO worth... More

Whale watching from Victoria is a great experience, but the enclosed boat is best what ever the weather. an open boat not advised for very young or seniors, it can get very cold even in the summer, the whales are always there, but cant go too close now,not like in the past.. the guides are excellent, and very know legible... Thanks for the great review jenroy911! Great advice for future passengers: our covered vessels, Ocean Magic and Ocean Magic II are perfect for any weather conditions. Zodiacs are a blast, but not advisable for anyone with neck, back, or knee injuries, recent surgery, or pregnant women. And it's ALWAYS cold on the water, doesn't matter what the weather is like... The biologist does a great job of teaching about the whales and orcas. She knew them so well, she could even identify them individually.

Thanks for the review DrMac! I so glad you enjoyed the whales, as well as all the info your talented on-board naturalist shared! We do get to know our whales pretty well, so it's nice when we get to tell interested passengers like yourself all about our friends! All the best, Jennifer More

Joe our guide was wicked!! The whole experience was worth the money. We got lucky and found J-Pod just outside the Inner Harbour. Pretty spectacular to see Orcas in the wild. They give you a survival suit but make sure you wear a warm under layer, bring boots, warm gloves and a toque. If it rains a poncho would work... More

JoenLynn, Thanks so much for such an awesome review! I will pass along your praise to Joe; he is extremely passionate and very experienced on the water with these whales. Always nice to hear that your skipper made the experience exceptional, and the whole thing was worth the investment. Sounds like you had a great trip; seeing residents in the... More

We went out in March and it was wet windy and rough. If it's raining I would suggest putting it off till its dry. Mark our captain was great. Very knowledgeable and a wealth of information. If you in Victoria this is a must to do.

Hi Mark! Thanks for the great rating! We really appreciate that you didn't allow the bad weather to detract from your enjoyment and you were still able to give us a five star review. Passengers who really understand the unpredictable nature of the ocean are often a breath of fresh air for us! Rain is one of those tricky situations... More

The Prince of Whales whalewatching tours is a bit more expensive than other companies (we payed 120CAD/pers) but they go out of their way to get you an excellent experience. As we were here in June there were not so many people to do a tour so we had to wait untill there were 5 people to do a tour... More

traveladdict3500, thanks so much for your great review! I'm thrilled your travel addiction brought you to the beautiful west coast. Things can be tricky in the shoulder season as we need to reach a minimum number of bookings to cover our costs. Our number one cost is fuel and unfortunately we never quite know where the whales are, and therefore... More
