About
We are a mobile business and can help you with guided tours, lessons and rentals. We also sell boards, paddles and all the other gear you need to make your paddling experience safe and fun. We are open year round from dawn to dusk and offer night paddles too. Enjoy paddling with otters and seals while eagles soar overhead. SUP (stand up paddleboarding) is a great way to experience the beauty of Victoria and southern Vancouver Island. SUP is easy to learn and suitable for people of all ages. And a great full body workout too. Sign up for a lesson, tour, event or rental and we will get out on the water!

Did the red paddle ride out in sooke and it was such a wonderful experience. Professional,knowledgeable instructors. Casual group paddle with a special visit from whales. Brian and Gina make the experience fun and remind everyone about respecting the place and inhabitants we may encounter. Thank you and I recommend South Island sup adventures to everyone!

The SUP tour around Oak bay was just perfect. Gina is so knowledgeable when it comes to wildlife, it was a fantastic experience. We saw very cute seals, several types of jellyfish and the tallest seaweed I had ever seen.

Met Brian for a sunrise tour off Willows beach. Prompt, positive, polite, lots of choices in equipment. Was happy to go an tour even thought I was the only participant! Excellent value for the experience,
Brian is knowledgeable and provides an interesting, fun and safe experience based on your ability.

We hired two SUPs from Brian with about 30 minutes warning! We met him at the beach and had a lovely hour of paddleboarding.
Amazing service from Brian and what a lovely guy! He also gave us a load if recommended spots for Tofino as well! Definitely give Brian a call!!

South Island SUP provides guided paddle boarding tours for all ages, from beginners to experienced paddlers. This past Saturday we went on a five hour paddle starting at Brentwood Bay and along Finlayson Arm. Participants ages ranged from early twenties to mid-seventies. We experienced Nature in a serene, pristine environment and encountered plenty of marine life, including eagles, seals, sea lions and many starfish. Brian and Gina provided top notch equipment and expert guiding. I loved being able to experience Victoria from a different perspective and got a good workout at the same time.

Brian was brilliant as guide and instructor. I highly recommend this. If we return I think we'd check out his bioluminescence tours.

It was great paddling with you! I hope you're able to return for a bioluminescence tour this summer. Our night paddles with bioluminescence are some of our most fun tours and often sell out! We sometimes swim off the boards at night and everything glows around us. Definitely an experience worth trying. Thanks for the review.

I recently had an outstanding experience paddleboarding from Willows Beach to the Chatham / Discovery islands with @mertalesoceanjourneys and @southislandsup. We stopped in a protected cove where the harbour seals and their pups played. From our boards, we slipped into the water to explore the beautiful marine life. Gina, a professional marine biologist from @mertalesoceanjourneys, knew everything there was about life under the water. She pointed out the rich and diverse marine life from giant purple sea stars, orange sea cucumbers, kelp crabs, and various anemones. Her depth of knowledge was unbelievable as she explained the secret life of kelp, anemone characteristics, sea star feeding habits, and countless other facts. If you’re looking for a trip of a lifetime, I highly recommend a tour with @mertalesoceanjourneys and @southislandsup.

Renting paddle boards from South Island SUP was a great experience. We are new to the area so Brian gave us clear directions on where to meet. The equipment was clean and in good condition, and the inflatable paddle boards were light and easy to carry. We would definitely rent again. Thank you!

Thank you Gina for an excellent introduction and orientation to SUP. I took a 1.5 hour coaching and mini-tour with Gina and now feel so much more confident and stable on a paddle-board. I was very comfortable with Gina's coaching style - just the right amount of information at the right time. I felt safe working with Gina and she also helped me to begin to think about the marine environment and what sorts of factors to consider when paddle-boarding in this environment. WOW! What an amazing experience. I booked a sunset tour and ended up being the only one. I had previously only done SUP on rivers. Brian and Gina made me feel comfortable and took the time to show me some wildlife and different islands. They even took pictures for me and chatted about the city. Would recommend to anyone looking at getting out on to the water. 11/10!
