About
O'Keefe Ranch was founded in 1867 by Cornelius O'Keefe. His family lived on site for 110 years before it was opened as an historic ranch, meaning it still houses one of the most complete collections of one family's stuff (from the Victorian and Edwardian eras) in all of the province. Today O'Keefe Ranch is operated by a non-profit society and is a registered charity. Come visit us during our open season from May to October - stroll along the boardwalk, visit our original buildings (set up as they were more than 100 years ago!), visit the Greenhow museum, and go say hello to our many farm animals.

Loved the whole experience!
Jul. 2021 • Couples
We visited the historic ranch for the first time and thoroughly enjoyed it! The beautifully preserved buildings from the 19th and early 20th centuries with original furniture and decor take you back to another time in history.
We loved the talented actors playing the parts of people that lived and worked on the ranch. They stayed in character as they explained their life on the ranch at the time. We especially enjoyed Osa the milkmaid. Nobody in our party could believe that she was acting as she played the character and interacted with us and our questions like she had been transported into the future. Very well done!
It is our understanding that the actors are volunteers, generously donating their time for the enjoyment of the visitors.

Very pleasant
Jul. 2021
Very clean and enjoyable, lots of history to learn. Excellent day out for the family and very friendly staff/character actors. Great for pick nicks. Also interactive for the kids and adults. Large property so bring lots of water. All is excellent and corn maze is well worth the visit separately if you wish. Great time, very happy, easy access.
Definitely be back soon.

A great place to take family or to hold a wedding or event
Jun. 2021
This great attraction has really taken off this year with character actors playing the parts of members of the community. The animals are always a joy and they have that gorgeous historic church - perfect for weddings!

Great family day out
Jul. 2020 • Family
This was a great afternoon for us, but could likely be a full day if you wanted. There is a restaurant there which very reasonable priced ($15 a meal) and they give decent food with huge portions.

Once you have been through the historical portion and had your history fix, you can go live your inner kid at the animal portion where you can pet the Donkey or goats etc.

There are interactive pottery and blacksmiths shops that are working and sell some stuff for again, pretty darn cheap. There are also other buildings to explore as well as a big model railway for your inner-nerd.

"Truly Historic Visit"
Jul. 2020
Spending the day in the Vernon area we decided to visit. I must have misread the website as I thought that there was an admission charge. Actually it is free with a donation available. Walked around and enjoyed the sights. It was a great place to spend a few hours in our day.

Cowboy Campfire and The Cattleman's Restaurand is a must!
Jul. 2020 • Couples
We began our night at The Cattleman's Club Restaurant. The pork schnitzel was sooo delicious! My husband thoroughly enjoyed his roast beef dinner as well. The white sangria was delicious as wa the lemon meringue pie! LARGE portions, I think they were fattening us up so we could do some work on the ranch! I was VERY impressed with how the tables were set out in order to maintain social distancing. Well done during these Covid 19 times!

The Cowboy Campfire was awesome. We had th chance to learn how to throw a Lariat, wander the property, go on a hayride and enjoy a campfire along with music, history and poetry. Very well done! Rob Dinwoodie and his fellow musicians are quite talented and I quite enjoyed both the original songs and classics. Ken Mather is quite the historian and I both learned from and enjoyed his stories of the cowboy! He also delivered some awesome poetry. Very talented group of gentlemen - thanks for an awesome night!

Light display
Dec. 2019 • Friends
My daughter took me here at Christmas. The light display was great. We went on a hay ride and it was nice but it would be much better if the lights continued along the path. I find this place a little expensive for what you get

Hi Nicky, Thanks so much for your review - we're really glad you enjoyed the light display. Thanks for sharing your feedback on the hayride - this was our first year incorporating both horse rides and Christmas lights, so it's great to know where we can improve. Take care, Carla-Jean, Curator

A different kind of visit.
Nov. 2019
Having not stopped here since our children were young I saw a one day black smiths workshop advertised and decided to sign up. The ranch is worth seeing if you have young children or are interested in the history of the area. They also have some artisans now working at the ranch which the black smith's shop is part of. Being 73 years old and having arrhythmia and arthritis I thought it might be a challenge. I was correct in my assessment. Fortunately one of my Grandson's accompanied me and was able to help Grandpa out occasionally. The class lasted over 8 hours and almost all of that time was spent standing although I did find a semi-comfortable anvil to rest on occasionally. I started my working life "post high school" as a mechanic before I became a career firefighter. So this was an opportunity to learn a little about the trade that pretty much started it all. However there was a lot more practical then theory, but pushed on and made it through okay. So if anyone is interested the blacksmith was very knowledgeable and took much of his training abroad, so has some interesting story's about how things are done there as well as here in North America. Unless you have a deep interest in the subject like I did I would probably recommend you be a bit younger though. My Grandson who is 10 years old was able to make some Interesting coat hooks which he enjoyed doing although by the end of the day he was getting a bit tired as well.
