About
Located above Whistler Village on the side of Blackcomb Mountain, the Whistler Sliding Centre is a world-class bobsleigh, skeleton and luge facility. Public visitors can try Whistler's most unique activities, passenger bobsleigh (winter and summer) and public skeleton (winter). Aspiring athletes can join "Learn to Slide" programming for all skill levels in bobsleigh, skeleton and luge within the BC Sliding Development Centre. The facility is also a National Training Centre and popular training and competition venue for athletes from all over the world. Each year, races for all levels from beginners to the elite of sliding athletes, such as World Cups and World Championships are held on the Olympic legacy venue. Year-round, Olympic Sightseeing is available free of charge through a self-guided interpretive tour. The Whistler Sliding Centre is a non-profit organization, and all proceeds from public programs go directly towards growing sport and supporting current and future athletes!

My family and I did both the Bobsleigh and Skeleton and were extremely grateful for the experience and staff.
The worlds fastest track did not disappoint and we all had a great time and much more respect for our Olympians who participate in these events.
We highly recommend both of these activities for anyone who wants to feel the need for speed.

Husband 57 myself 57 and daughter 15 did the 4 man bobsled while in Whistler in March. My husband was just going along but not too crazy about it. Of the 3 of us he enjoyed it the most. I was a little nervous about the Gs pulled but it feels like a big roller coaster. The staff is very organized. The whole process takes about 75 minutes start to finish. The ride itself is about 42 seconds. We bought the video which has a view of the track and a view of the riders. We felt safe too for those worried about speeding down " the fastest track in the world" at up to 75mph. Daughter thought it was fun too but not as exciting as her bungee jump earlier in the week so if doing that maybe do a slide first and then the bungee jump. I loved it too. Not sure if we'd do it again only because we've had the experience and checked that box but all 3 of us highly recommend doing the bobsled run when in Whistler.

We had an amazing experience going down the fastest track in the world.
All of the staff were extremely helpful and friendly and a special shout out to Lyndon hi piloted us down and then also casually popped out his Olympic bronze medal for my son to wear in the official photograph.
Also a special note to say that whilst it might seem expensive for a 40 second ride all of the funds go to help the next generation of athletes which is a great way for them to run the facility.

My Wife and I did the summer bobsleigh run and it was fantastic. The staff were all great, the walkthrough of the track was interesting and the ride was the best thing we did in Whistler. Also the money paid goes to help athletes with their costs.

It was a truly amazing experience. The instruction for us was given by a young aspiring olympian and she does an excellent job of making you feel really safe and confident going into it. I was pretty nervous getting there but its really just a fun ride. They take you to a spot on the track thats just high enough up that you get lots of speed for an awesome rush but not so far as your required to steer so you really just hang on. After my first time down the track i just wanted to beat my top speed. I highly recommend this.

What an experience!
The ride itself may be over in 52 seconds but the whole hour leading up to it was filled full of great facts, anticipation and excitement.
The people could not be more helpful and fun and walking the track is worth the money alone.
The ride is hard to describe in its intensity and sheer bone rattling excitement, great times!

I can't recommend this experience enough. I've been on it a couple of times and wanted some of my business associates to try it. They loved it! The staff are knowledgeable, safe and fun. Make sure to try this when in Whistler!

I really didn't know what to expect. When my wife said "we could go down the bobsled track" I thought it would be too good to be true. Well, I was wrong. What an experience. How many places could you ACTUALLY get into a bobsled and go down the track? We hit 92 km/hr in the thing. Just for the record, my wife and I beat our two teenage sons' time. Don't mean to brag or anything.

This is one of the few places in the world where the public get to try these Olympic sports for themselves. I decided to have a go at both the Bobsleigh and Skeleton in one afternoon.
Bobsleigh - This is like a mad roller coaster ride with some extreme G force and not for the faint hearted. It took me a little by surprise on the way down at just how powerful it was. You do around 2/3 of the track in a public session and have a professional at the front making sure you get around all the corners safely. It is safe however and I really enjoyed it.
Skeleton - This wasn't as fast as the bobsleigh however your head is around 2 inches off the ice! My best speed down the track was 97 kilometres per hour. You can go down the track twice. This was my favourite out of the two activities. You made more of a difference to the outcome of your time.
Staff were friendly enough although a little disorganised at times and didn't speak loudly enough when speaking to large groups of people.
Not cheap but very enjoyable day!

We visited the Wistler Sliding Centre to do the bobsleiging. After much waiting around we walked up to a tent where we were given an orientation. We then waited at the bottom corner of the track and watched the first 2 sleighs come down. My boyfriend and I were split up into separate groups so at this point he was driven to the top of the track and we didn't see eachother again until we were both finished.
Being split up and coming down on spearate sleighs kind of wrecked the day for us. I spent a long time just hanging around on my own waiting for my turn. We were told we could get a photograph together at the end but my boyfriend had to take his drive down just as I finished my turn.
For the cost of it, I think more effort should be made to keep groups and couples together, I understand it's not always possible but when it isn't they should at least ensure you get to see eachother coming down on the sleigh or even just get a photograph together at the top.
Also the video of the sleigh ride is $45 so we would have had to buy 2 which is pretty ridiculous. Overall, I feel a bit ripped off and disappointed with the whole experience.

Is there a copy of the waiver that needs signing? We can't find a travel insurance policy which will cover bobsleighing

Hello, our winter season will go until March 31, 2019, so there will unfortunately be no rides available on April 17, 18 and 19.
Our summer season, with summer bobsleigh, will commence in June.

How can I go there in Whistler village? Does it need lift tickets? Can I go there by foot?
Written November 27, 2018
Hello Seunghyun, in the winter, you can access the Whistler Sliding Centre via the "Excalibur Gondola". The gondola is free for foot passengers (without ski gear). From the gondola mid station it is about a 10 minute walk to our venue. Other options are public transit or by car/taxi, you can find more information on our website.

I want to book things for winter( maybe January 7th). When can I start to book? And also when do the deals such as Groupon available?
Written August 20, 2018
As stated, the earlier the better for booking any activity at Whistler during ski season...
We try to book rooms as early as possible to get the best rates and location.
Hope you get the date you’re looking for.

I read that the bobsled was now on wheels, not on the actual ice. Can you confirm?
Written June 25, 2018
It is ice in the winter and wheels in the summer. I am not sure of the changeover dates; you should call or check the website to confirm.
Written June 25, 2018
Hi, can yo tell me how much it cost please. Debra
Written June 22, 2018
The summer program says $109 per person. This is, of course, for a bobsleigh on wheels – not on snow. Sometimes Groupon has discount tickets.

If I wanted to take my husband and two kids aged 9 and 6, would that be possible or something s it adults only?
Written March 22, 2018
I didn’t see any children at the time we went, personally I would say it was more of a teenage and above thing, that’s just my personal opinion though maybe have a look at there website. It is great fun, you certainly won’t regret it!

Is the sliding centre open at the end of may? its not clear on their website
Written January 24, 2018
Its open year round and as others have said, ice in winter, wheels in summer which are marginally slower but i would hazard a guess at been just as much fun. We had a blast...I'm sure you will.
