White Rock east side is a great beach for everyone of all ages. Some of the picnic tables have been removed during COVID-19 requirements, however everything else is in compliance. Bathrooms are open to the public plus paid vehicle parking is available.

East beach is where the famous "White Rock" is located. Lots of sandy beach once you get across the rocks! Benches are located along the promenade, allowing you to take in the sites & sounds! Only thing is the paid vehicle parking & main street is "one way" traffic.

East Beach in White Rock has long been the poor country cousin compared to West Beach. But not any longer! The work done repairing the damage done by the storm here in December has gone above and beyond what was absolutely necessary. With 3 of the top Fish and Chip places in the lower mainland and picnic tables galore, this is the place to spend time with the kids. Great expanse of sandy beach with lots of lawn to spread out on. All the local fooderies do take-out... or pack a lunch and grab a picnic table. Parking is peanuts compared to downtown Van.

This review tries to focus on the beach itself, allowing for separate reviews for the other great things to do close by. As can be seen in the photos, when the tide is out, this beach becomes a large mud flat. I saw many people, sunbathing, digging, and getting their feet wet, but few swimming. Good parking and rest rooms.
But, unless I had to entertain small children on a hot day, I would give this a miss.

Again we like coming here on our anniversary, which is on St. Patrick's day for a stroll along the beach. Nice way to enjoy your day during COVID and social distancing signage is placed along the promenade.

Love to spend time at White Rock and the beach. The sights and pier cannot be beat. We always enjoy a visit to the beach.

This side of the beach has the "White Rock"! Also has the totem poles while walking along the promenade into the bandstand park area! Also take sometime to enjoy some of the local restaurants.

East Beach is the dog beach, but lots of room for people to, at least the part that is on First Nations land. Beach is nice, so time your visit with the tide.
East Beach near the promenade, where the bear statue is, has been redone and is very nice for a picnic, but there are lots of fish & chips and ice cream places nearby.

Mid week visit. Rather quiet as much parking taken up by work crews repairing the promenade. Picnic tables not open yet along promenade. Will be terrific when repairs completed. Fish and chip spots were busy for lunch goers.

This is the side where the actual "White Rock" is located on the beach! Great location to take a stroll on the promenade to take in the view. You can also sit on the Expo 86 benches, if you need a break. Some shops & restaurants are also located at this end of the beach. Paid parking is required for you vehicle.

Does anyone know where all the white ( granite? Or granite like) rock they use as fill came from originally? Maybe a huge building that was torn down? Was there a quarry it came from?

Have noticed it looks like there is only one public restroom on East Beach near Moby Dick's Fish & Chips. Will this be open week of June 14 to 20th and what times?
Written June 16, 2020
It should be open, as it was when we went last week.
There is a nice washroom at Pier, which is a short walk.
