The Eskimo Museum / Itsanitaq Museum was not what I expected to find. It is full of beautiful Inuit carvings, of which many have witty stories to go with them. There are preserved animals which includes a Polar Bear, a Walrus and others, antlers, pictures,...More

Interesting but I was disappointed in the gift area--mainly soapstone carvings and I guess I expected some inuit bone carvings. Lovely little museum. Glad I went.

Great small museum. Lots of interesting displays. Docent was very enthusiastic and informative. Small gift shop in corner of museum. Depending on your desire, you could spend hours here exploring the displays.

The collection consists primarily of Inuit carvings that depict Arctic animals and daily activities. The quality of these pieces equals that of some major Canadian city museums.

We loved the museum and all the history of the Cree and Inuit Indians. We learned quite a bit about living in Churchill and the harsh conditions they had living off the land. Very interesting.

When our group arrived we were given a talk of what the museum has to offer and some special pieces were pointed out to us. It's a fascinating place with many artifacts, all identified with explanations, as well as photos and such. Very well put...More

So does the Isanitaq Museum. I fell in love right off with the signs, the posters, and newspaper clippings posted inside the entrance. An array of small, exquisitely carved objects filled the display cases that lined three sides of the room. After more than two...More

This wonderful museum is packed full of some of the most amazing art forms from indigenous people! It was begun in 1944 when catholic missionaries recognized the importance of preserving the "carvings" representing the culture of the people of the north. The exhibit gives credit...More
