This is definitely worth-seeing. Winnipeg has impressive public spaces. We went on a Sunday afternoon and families were enjoying picnics. It’s awe-inspiring that you can park for free. The English Garden and Leo Mao Sculptures were worth the visit.

This is a beautiful, spacious park with a lot of activities. The zoo is located there, but also the sculpture garden, English garden, the Leaf, the pavilion, fountains, a playground, walking/running trails, etc. The gardens are beautiful! Parking is fairly easy, as there are free parking lots spaced around the main road. There is so much construction on the roads right now though, so it's pretty rough driving.

A great opportunity to see gardens, tour art, have a picnic, bring the dog. There is of course the zoo and a large children's area if you have kids.

Love the views even in winter. Food is decent.
Fairly easy to get to. Loved the openness. Would love to see it in summer.

This year it's a huge thumbs down. It is no fun and dangerous skating on ice that has huge cracks, bumpy and would you believe uphill and down hill! I've gone or tried to go three times. Last time I could not skate as the ice was covered in at least 3"s of snow. The warming facility is basically closed using cover as an excuse. I don't know what to say other than it might as well be closed. Shame on the operating authority.

Huge park including a zoo. Free entry to park. Free entry to English Gardens (much smaller than the Munich English Gardens). Ample free parking inside the park on weekdays. Free entry to small art gallery too.

We went to the Leaf Gardens at Assiniboine Park. It is brand new and it is very nice. It is a little ways of a walk from the parking lot but it is worth it. They have different sections such as the Seasonal garden, Performance garden, sensory garden, Kitchen garden, etc. It is free to go to. It has about 30 acres.

We went in the morning and had planned to go to Nature Playground - a very unique playground with a water play area (wasn’t working at the time unfortunately), rubber paved hills with a wall climbing apparatus, balls, long slide, swings, net-type climbing structures, and musical type structures off to the side.

Walking paths around the park are great. We took a break and had a snack near the family duck pond. The various gardens are all attached and shaded just a short distance from Nature Playground. Plenty of parking available although I’m sure that would be different if there were events going on. Bathrooms near the duck pond were frequently cleaned.

The pavilion has 3 levels of art galleries. It was a nice quiet place to cool off during the heat. Kids and adults enjoyed it.

We spent half a day between the playground, paths, gardens and pavilion and would definitely visit again.

It's a fantastic place that always interests me every time I have been there. I first went 1978 and go every time I come to visit Winnipeg from UK. the last meal I had when I last over in 2020 was breakfast with family in the park cafe. The park also has a family connection my wife cousin Wendy Mackie was parks & gardens manger several years ago. Were else could you get a fresh banana in Winnipeg only from the Glasshouse in Assiniboine Park.

I love this park especially the many trails which I access via a trail head to the right of the English gardens. If you want to try to hand feed chickadees, bring your own seed especially black oil sunflower seed, follow the trail right you will see a stump to the left (sometimes people leave seed there) and be patient.
