Be sure to visit tour is fantastic, I fully recommend it.
You have to make a reservation for the tour. They sell all their coins there too. No snack bar or vending machines, just water fountain. Tour guide was fantastic as he works there and has done many of the jobs. Be sure to visit.

    A mint in time
It is a quick, historical, and informative tour. You may not get the opportunity again to see where your coins are made, so take a moment to visit if you are in Winnipeg. It has the feel of touring a museum or library. Make your trip count. Watch your pennies made.

    Worth a visit!
Booked the tour online and heard back quickly with a number of time slots for the following day. Great service. At the mint everyone at the front desk was very nice and offered plenty of information. Our tour guide Cade was very well informed, answered any questions and gave us an overall great experience. Definitively worth a visit.

    Great tour, we enjoyed it👍
I went figuring the tour would just be an overview of the coin making process. But our tour guide Cade was very informative and knowledgeable with regards to the variety of coins and the history behind them. My wife and I had a great conversation at the end of the tour with Cade and Olivier at the front counter. If you are passing through the city or visiting and have an hour to spare I highly recommend scheduling a tour on their website. It was a fun and memorable experience!

Spectacular Spot ! Perfect for family time
Went there with my family. Booked their guided tour and trust me, it was amazing. Clicked pictures with the premises. Mom purchased a fine wallet from a local business who had their pop-up store on that day. I purchased a precious metal coin from their in-house boutique Overall - strongly recommended place

We often just stop for coins at gift shop, but TAKE THE TOUR! Very interesting experience..
We took our Ukrainian friends on a tour of the Royal Mint today. We visited the gift shop where several lovely new coins are displayed. Then on with the tour. I have to say Kade was an excellent tour guide. We learned a lot of new things in his very informative and upbeat tour. Thanks Kade, our Ukrainian friends enjoyed it immensely and said “ we learned a lot of interesting information”

    Great experience
A great experience! Well worth checking out, even on weekends when the mint isn’t operating. Georgia did a fantastic job of keeping everyone engaged and had an answer for just about everything. So glad we took our kids!

I called 45 minutes before getting there and was able to book a tour for 2:00 PM I believe. The tour guide was friendly and pleasant. I believe his name was Nick. He was happy to answer questions and was enthusiastic about the mint. The gift shop also had some interesting items. My wife really enjoyed the tour! It was hard for our small children to see much unless we held them, but we were able to bring our stroller. It was $10 for adults, and our small children were free so it was $20 total, which worked out to a little more than $15 USD on my credit card bill for us with the 30% exchange rate. It's definitely something to do in Winnipeg. There is a large "statue" of a loon in the front of the building that my children liked. I don't think many Americans get out to Winnipeg, so you'll definitely have a unique experience having visited this place if you are American!

My family and I (4 of us) had an afternoon tour September 16th. We all give high marks to the staff who were outstanding. The clerks at the reception area, the staff keeping the building spotlessly clean, those in the gift shop and especially our tour guide - please forgive me for an incorrect spelling Mireille. Mireille was knowledgeable and kept us on our toes asking us questions, and for answering our questions. Thanks to all for a great experience.

We phoned ahead and booked a tour during the week as the representative said the mint is in operation during the week but not on weekends (not sure it matters as there really isn't anything to see). The tour guide(s) (there were 5 of them) for 4 of us, were informative but there is not much to see. They walk you down a narrow hallway that overlooks some of the operating plant. The information is provided on a few glass displays. The guides were all wearing masks and were at first very difficult to hear. We encouraged them to speak very loudly and that helped. The Mint is still COVID "Scared"; you don't have to wear a mask but there are signs everywhere reminding you to not be "too" close to people and signs saying you have to wear a mask (old signs as no longer mandatory in Manitoba). We did not wear a mask for the tour.

Yesterday I traveled with my family from Saskatchewan to Winnipeg specifically to sew the Mint and a couple of other places. First when I booked our tour from the website I never heard back

We arrived after a very early morning and long drive quite excited to see how the money is made. We were terribly disappointed after paying for our tours and waiting for it to begin finding out the production floor was closed for yearly maintenance. What we truly wanted to see was not available to us and nobody let us know at any time before taking our fees. Not on the website, not with the automated booking reply, not with the phone call to update our tour and not at the time they took our full payment!

The tour was okay and included some fun facts but hearing someone talk about the process for making money is not what we were hoping for. We could have saved the $50 and watched an episode of "How it's Made"! If we had been given the shut down information we may have moves our trip to another city less than 7 hours from home, toured different Winnipeg attraction and saved $50 to see something that wasn't there and that as a taxpayer I already pay for.

We suggest phoning up the Mint and making reservation. We went on Saturday at 10.
The 11 tour was fully booked. The tours at the weekend are discount because the machine was not running.
We were the only people on our tour. The guide was very informative .
Beautiful building and ground.

We managed to get in on a tour and really enjoyed it. The information provided on the tour was hugely educational for us, and helped us better understand how coins are made. We also learned a lot about the relationship the mint has with other countries. I didn’t even know that the mint produced Olympic medals. Really fascinating stuff! Due to COVID, tours were small groups and masks were required. Hand sanitizer was also abundant.

We were very disappointed. The group was way too big. When we got to the Windows to see what the tour guide was talking about, it was long after her talk so we did not know what we were looking at. This was because the group was so large. Part of the group was down syndrome adults. I think it would have been better for both them and us it they had taken them through seperately. They too could not see what was happening. My husband has hearing aides and could not understand what the tour guide was saying as the tour guides do not have microphones. The tour guide seems to be very knowledgeable but it was just poorly done.

The best part of the mint is the outside of the building and the lobby. The tour itself is pretty lame, although you do learn some interesting facts and get an appreciation of the effort that goes into making a coin.

If you have an hour to spare this might be interesting. But don’t expect too much.
