Nice area to take a nice walk. Traffic noise from Portage Avenue can be a bit of a distraction, but once you move further along the trail, not so bad. Sturgeon Creek offers a many nice vistas as well.

We visited the Grant's Old Mill and at the same time attended the Metis Culturla show, where Metis dancers performed their traditional dances. We also saw items on fur trading exhibited by some Metis gentlemen. One of them showed us how muskets were loaded and even fire one in the air for us. It was a small but informative exhibition on Metis culture.

This place is located by the side of Trans-Canada Highway and easily access by cars and buses. When I planned this visit, I was dreaming to visit a huge mill but to my surprise it is in a small land area of about 300 sq.ft. by the side of a creek. It has a basement, ground and an upper floor. Connected to the building is the waterwheel which used to rotate the mill. Inside the building the mill and the history is well documented to read and the assistants there will help to give further explanation. This is a must go place in Winnipeg.

Free parking on Booth Dr. The mill isn't working, but its a nice pic to get if you like history. Walk across Portage and see a T-33 RCAF jet - freshly restore and mounted 20 ft in the air. There's a DQ here also if you like. Then drive over to Ness/Sharp and see the other RCAF planes on display outside the gate of 17 Wing north of Ness.

We usually go twice a year. There is a group that has a small car show there, 2-10 cars involved. They have hot dogs & drinks. Also music and a few crafts. Not sure who puts it on though.
