What a disappointment! The food was overpriced. The massage was not even mediocre, it was horrible. The temperature of the pools hardly varied - just lukewarm to a bit warmer and then a bit cooler.
The exfoliating room, is a step in shower stall with a bucket of salt. The saunas are small and overly infused with scent.

There were many positives, but real relaxation was difficult with all the chatting in most areas. Also in the resting area, there was a guy beside me constantly scrolling on his phone- wtf. I believe at one time phones were not allowed. That was a good policy. The staff was friendly and helpful. The hot pool was overcrowded at times. Loved the scented and dry saunas (generally less chatting than other locations). People commenting that they want to visit is ridiculous. There are areas around fires where you can visit or go to the restaurant and visit.

Lovely spot, lots of different pools, options to try out. Was there for 5 hours and could have stayed longer. Enjoyed my massage by Seun O. It was a nice warm time but the steam rising was beautiful. Would recommend water shoes or good quality sandals - the ice melt started to hurt pruned feet some as the time went on.

Thermea is lovely and so relaxing. Staff are kind and helpful. Had a wonderful time with two close friends.
There are reasons that I didn’t give it the full 5 stars however.
Parking is atrocious and needs to be expanded.
It may just be me but I find the stone base of the pools uncomfortable to walk on.
The salt scrub room is always lined up. It’s uncomfortable to squeeze in there with other people when you’re scrubbing your whole body. Only one of the two showers seemed to work (causing more waiting) and the other was difficult to get to work.
The restaurant is lovely and the food is tasty but the service wasn’t great this time and the prices are quite high- especially the drinks. We got two glasses of wine and one cocktail and it was $45 not including tip.
Anyway, despite my criticisms, I enjoyed the pools, the steam room, and the lounge area (had to try a couple times before there was space). I laid in a hammock for a bit - it was a gorgeous fall day.
One thing I really enjoyed at other spas is a variety of strong water jet stations that give you a massage on different parts of your body. That would give you a bit more for your money.

Fine experience overall, but a few issues:
1. The floor of the restaurant was absolutely filthy. There were pieces of food (tomatos, sauces etc) underneath several tables. We went to the restaurant twice - once for appetizers and again for dinner. Both times our table was disgusting
2. Parking lot is sand --- it rained the day we went so inevitably got the inside of our vehicle ++ muddy. Not the best way to end a spa day

We got there at 9:30 and stayed till 3:30. The day flew by. We each went for a massage. Shout out to Laura, my massage therapist! Just awesome. Lunch was very good, with such a varied menu. Service was slow. We enjoyed the saunas and exfoliating salts! What a beautiful day. Next time, I will go alone and just relax even more!

Thermea's tranquil atmosphere, fires, trees, soothing music, and thermal cycle contribute to a soul-renewing experience that rejuvenates the body and mind. Bring a book to capitalize during the rest/relaxation stage, and sneak in a nap. Keep your phone in your locker and disconnect for the duration of your stay, allowing yourself to be fully enveloped by the process. The food and drinks were absolutely delicious, but a bit expensive considering other options in Winnipeg. It's a day and money well spent!

This was our first visit to thermea. Overall it is a nice space and very relaxing. I agree with most of the reviews here
1. Change room areas are very small and they seem to assign lockers in sequential order so everyone who arrived the same time as me was trying to access lockers next to each other. There were probably at least 30 lockers in a space that could hold 2 people with a locker open.
2. The restaurant food is not bad but is over priced for what it is and not a whole lot of variety. The service was good and very fast. I had no idea there was a second restaurant at the back that serves pizza and snacks.
3. When it got busy it got loud! We went on a Wednesday during the day but even then by lunchtime there were groups in the hot tub chatting loudly and laughing and no sign of any staff with “shh” signs. I would recommend going as early in the day as possible if you are hoping for a quiet experience.
4. Though there is some signage explaining the cycle there could definitely be more info/support for newbies to make sure they are getting full benefit.
We did not do any spa treatments

Dear Joanna,
Thank you for your review! We're delighted your visit with us was restful and enjoyable.
We value your constructive feedback and have passed it along to the appropriate teams. In terms of understanding the thermal cycle, never hesitate to ask our artisans questions. They are all well-educated on the thermal cycle and would be more than happy to explain it in further detail.
We hope to host you again soon.
Yours in hospitality,

We had a wonderful time! Please be mindful that the kitchen is going through renovations so they are currently only serving airport grade food. However, the drinks are their usual 5/5 and the service by Luke was awesome!! Except his manager whom seemed to be keeping a close eye on him….maybe too close

Received a package as a gift facial massage and experience. I was not interested in doing the experience not my thing. Did get massage and facial. Waiting area is ok. Message room had a good ambiance relaxing but not very private there is a full partition but not a wall between room. Therapists was good not great after message you go back in waiting room waiting for facial. Facial room is bright with window not relaxing mediocre facial.
If you want a great spa experience for slightly higher price go to ten spa, I would not consider these services spa rather salon. Will not go back

Hi ManitobaGal39,
We're happy to hear you enjoyed the ambiance of the massage room, but sorry to hear your visit did not fully match your expectations.
We realize you chose to opt out of the thermal experience, but we do recommend that our guests always partake in it during their visit to our spa -- even if it's outside the realm of experiences they're used to.
As the only Nordic spa in the Canadian prairies, the thermal experience is an integral part of who we are, it offers a multi-sensory experience aimed at contributing to the health and well-being of our guests and provides a well-rounded spa-going experience at our establishment.

Can a gift certificate be used for a restaurant visit only? Not the thermal experience. Thanks!

Do anyone know if Thermea has swimwear policy? I'm a male that wears European style swimwear. I wondering if I can wear a male g string or c thong in the pool area?
Hi there,
To preserve an atmosphere of relaxation, we ask that guests wear only bathing suits and bathrobes on the site. The bathing suit must offer sufficient coverage, for men as well as women.
Visit the Spa Etiquette page on our website for our full spa-going Code of Conduct.

Are you allowed to have a glass of wine at any of the hot tubs? Or can you only enjoy a glass in the restaurant?
Hello,
Thank your question, unfortunately for the health of our guests we do not allow alcohol consumption in our pools. However you can relax on the deck with a glass of wine.
Hope that helps!

Are children (age 11) allowed in any part of this spa?
Apollo E

Yes, kids are allowed in common areas like lobby and restaurant but "...the baths, saunas and relaxation areas on the spa site are reserved for guests 16 and older..."
Quote is taken from their website. Hope this helps.

Which day of the week is the best to come for a quiet & relaxing spa experience?
Mike L

Sorry I took so long to answer. I have only gone on a Sunday. If you went for 9:00am on a weekday, you would likely only be sharing with 40-50 people. I think they allow only 100 people at a time.

How is the experience in the winter time? Are the options limited for what you can do and does the colder weather make it less enjoyable?

Hi itsjen64, I was just wondering if you called the number provided and received any satisfaction for your bad experience? I would be pretty upset if I booked a couples massage and was put with another man in the adjoining room, bad mistake!

Sorry, I do not have an answer. I did not get a massage or other treatment that might be covered by insurance. We just made use of the spa.
After carefully reading the reviews......and understanding everyone's point of view.....would it be a good thing to suggest ear phones playing zen music...for those people who really don't want to listen to anyone at all...I come from a long line of people who love to talk and when they're doing something that they really love and they're really enjoying with their friends they want to smile and compare comments and talk about what they're experiencing and share it with other people....without ever intending to be rude or annoying it's natural for people to want to talk like it is for dogs to want to bark just one point of view from one citizen

Dear Sheralee5,
Thank you for your precious comments as they play an important role in our continued effort to improve our services.
We are concerned about this issue and we are currently thinking about different solutions to please all our guests.
We do think our best option would be to allow people to talk in specific areas, while silence would be mandatory in others. We now have a whispering policy on the site, so people can whisper (except in our saunas and relaxation areas, where silence will stay mandatory).
Also, our Hedonïa section is a social zone, so you are allowed to chat with friends, just like at the Restö and on the terrace.
Once again, thank you for your precious review,
Christophe Debeaumont,
General Manager
