Very nice campsite, very clean showers and bathrooms. Our teenagers loved the games room (pool & table football). The only problem is that we like to enjoy the silence and appreciate the tranquility when we are camping, so noise from the train, the highway and the city is difficult for us.

Rockwood Park offers much more than meets the eye. While the majority of people congregate at the easy to access areas just off the road near Lily or Fisher Lakes in reality this only encompasses about 20% of the park. Beyond the road in the park of the park lays real, wild nature and some of the best scenery you are gonna find in NB.
Check out the Mackay Skyway for genuinely awe inspiring views of the Citiy's east side.
It is a park, free to use for the public with amazing trails that are used for both hiking and biking. If you like greenery, cliffs, valleys and forest this is the place for you. If you do not like these things, you probably should not come to a park expecting an amusement park.

Pleasant surprise in Saint John. Well marked with many options and ability to drive around and park closer to the parts you wish to visit. Nice display for each province and territory. Saw some local ducks and ducklings. Seem to be enjoyed by many local walkers and joggers.

I took two preschool grandchildren here for a nature walk on a short trail and to play in the playground as well as see a horse outside the stables. Playground is well kept and popular with kids. There are trails for walking and mountain biking of various skill levels.

Hidden gem. Lots of trails, some wide with fairly easy terrain, others are through the woods with rocks and roots. There's a large off-leash section of the woods too - great for dogs to burn off some energy. So much to see and do - horseback riding, children's playground, swimming, kayaking/paddle boating, and I think they rent snow shoes in the winter. Lily's cafe has great food and a nice deck on the water.

This is located in our North End where the low-income housing is... If you are looking for a nice time with the kids, there is a play park, trails, and even animals but it is highly overrated. Tends to be dirty/rundown.

Good park but I accidentally got bitten by a lobster that was very big and it really hurt but I took a picture so the police can take further action into preventing any more crimes from that lobster. The lobster is hopefully being prisonned shortly. 5 stars. Don’t wear sandals here the workers might cry.

As part of a shore excursion, we got to hike around the lake here and paddle through the lake itself. The park is beautiful; the lake is surrounded by trees and cliffs; which makes it look lovely. There are many hikes you can do around the park, varying from easy to difficult. I did not see any animals on the hike, but our guide said they had seen deer earlier. If you are a nature lover, I recommend seeing the park.

I can tell this park would be a great place to spend a full day or weekend around but we were only there for a couple of hours with our feet as transportation so we mostly stayed around Lily Lake. There is quite a bit to see and do. Having bicycles would be a game changer for this park. If I ever go back to St. Johns I would make sure to spend most of time here.

Absolutely love this park. We come here all the time. It is so amazing to have such a gorgeous park in the city. We are so blessed to have it. So many gorgeous little trails to go on. Skating in the winter on the lake, swimming in the summer. Absolutely love it

Hi,
Almost two months ago I saw a large cat (definitely not a domestic one) while I was running on the Moose track trail. It was about 50 yards from me but I couldn't get a detailed view of it as it run away very fast. It looked like a bob cat, yellowish in color. Is it possible to find those animals in the park?

What are your favourite snowshoe trails? Can you recommend a 4-6km loop?
Thanks!

Hi Mike, I like zoo trail -> Owen Lake -> Moose Trax -> right on Long Lake -> Owen Lake -> Zoo trail.
It's beautiful, plus for me, it allow my dog to be off leash. It's well sign-posted with the exception of Long Lake -> Owen Lake. The take-off to Owen Lake is on the right, just after you've crossed the lake and gone up a short hill. The sign for Owen Lake is shortly after you take the right. If it's icy out, then I'd advise taking the turn for Owen Lake there, but then shortly after following the signs for Sponge Bob on the left.

Which would be the routes with the best views? Thanks!

It's an inland park with several walking and biking trails and lakes. The more popular trails are those by the interpretation center/lily lake. There's a restaurant there also and a small beach. If you go to rockwood park website you can obtain a map

What is the distance around the lake the walking trail that goes around lily lake only?

Can you swim in any of the other lakes besides Fisher Lakes and Lily Lake?
Written September 4, 2016
You could likely go take a swim in any lake in the park that you can hike to, but Fisher and Lily Lakes are the only ones with sandy beaches and supervised swimming.

Is there public transportation from the cruise terminal to this park?
Written July 17, 2016
There is a 10 min ride via taxi from the terminal....also I believe there is a tour package that stops at the park as well although i am not sure how long the tour is there for. We do have bus transit services but would be quite confusing for a tourist. Our city Transit bus drivers would be happy to assist but it may take half hour to get there. hope this helps!
