Perhaps Saint John City Market siphoned off many visitors, or the void of people may have been attending a street fair that weekend in June. Since the tour group was on a tight schedule with many attractions to visit, I had only a few minutes to walk through the area. Sadly, it was enough. Given the street fair, don’t take my monocular view of this site as a recommendation to or not to visit. The time of morning I was there, few people were milling about. Perhaps nightlife is more inspiring.

Nice old building that now has art, crafts and food items that are very unique to the area. Loved the lobster sandwich from the seafood market. Bought some great gifts for friends, and small things for myself. I would suggest you are in the area, go check it out.

The Market Square is a mixture of shops, museums and artwork displays in town. Nice to spend an hour to stroll along the small trade shops and have a cup of coffee in the cafes underground.

Not much to do there if you are not into shopping or are not planning to visit the museum.
Walk in and walk out. Half an hour should be more than enough.

While exploring the area we came across this underground mall. The Art Club is housed here and they have local artist originals. Great shops! The New Brunswick Museum was housed here too. We grabbed more local, quality, inexpensive gifts/cards in their gift shop. I was in shopping heaven!

The website says this is a happening place that only closes from 2 am to 6 am. On what planet? Nothing happening here, nada. No buskers, no festivals, no nothing. It was dead. This is September! The sidewalks have not been rolled up quite yet. No snow flurries.

The architecture was nice. This was, however, after Hurricane Dorian paid a visit to the area but it still was inordinately quiet.

This mall, close to the cruise ship dock, is an interesting mix of retail (clothing and a wonderful leather bag store) and community (the local library and museum... with gift shop). A food court, pub, and Tim Horton’s make this an all encompassing stop for any walking tour of the St. John harbor.

Spent some time here for shopping. Not a great deal of choices, but everyone was friendly and the prices were reasonable.

Nice little area with shops, museums and the public library. Inside walking mall with shops and a handful of places to eat. A good place to take a break....
