We wanted a unique experience and to see things not readily available on a large, commercial tour. This overnight tour was beyond amazing. We had a very personable, friendly, and professional guide to take us off the beaten path. And, that’s what we got. We went off the beaten path to see such amazing sights. Having a local drive and know where to go was such a help and a relief. I did a ton of research before our trip, but never heard of some of the things we did. Plus, he knew where to go, and had an entire army of friends, photographers, and locals that gave him leads on icebergs. We would have never found an iceberg if it wasn’t for his network of contacts and his knowledge of the area. I can not say enough about Cory, our guide, or the amazing experience we had. Definitely a bucket list tour.

My recent 3-day photography tour of St. John’s and Eastern Newfoundland was a wonderful and authentic experience, providing amazing opportunities for photography and more.
As a fully customized tour, the very personable, professional photographer Michael Winsor and I had a few calls beforehand to go over possible opportunities and subjects to shoot during the days of the tour, as well as advice to prepare for the trip. In line with the opportunities of the season, we travelled around by vehicle quite comfortably, with a central aim to shoot icebergs from different angles, while making stops, both planned and impromptu, along the way. We captured images in iconic but also lesser known locations, from Bonavista to St. John’s across the Narrows at night time to other discoveries such as sea ice churned up by powerful waves in tiny fishing villages. Michael made great suggestions, adapting to whatever came up and optimizing the situations while keeping my interests in mind. He was more than willing to ensure attempts for the best potential light and conditions, including sunrises and sunsets, despite the cold and windy weather that we happened to be facing.
Michael is a celebrated landscape and wildlife photographer, with deep knowledge of and connection to Newfoundland (I encourage you to have a look at his stunning work!). I learned a great deal from him during these three days, not only upgrading my own skills due to his technical and practical advice, but also getting more acquainted with icebergs and wildlife, Newfoundland history, culture, stories and more. All the while, the road trip was full of laughs and in good company.
Beyond the amazing photography opportunities and tips to improve my game, it was a firsthand introduction to Newfoundland and provided local encounters and hospitality around that I had hoped for and deeply appreciate. Highly recommended.

I've often wondered how to turn fantasy into reality. The answer is Michael Winsor. I along with two companions just completed an eight day tour in Newfoundland.
The tour included sites in Gros Morne National Park, Twillingate, Steady Brook and Fogo Island.
It was off-season and the weather was challenging. But MICHAEL made the trip a winning first class experience . Besides his patience, his people skills, his caring,Michael is a book of knowledge on the venues we visited. He selected the best photo shooting locations , the ideal camera settings for every situation, the best times to shoot depending on the location and conditions.
Michael knows every nook and cranny of the country side better than the folks who live there . The experience was transporting and we are already discussing a follow up trip to a different part of NFLD next year .
Michael is a gem of a person . I highly recommend Michael to anyone seeking a guide in NFLD. They don't come any better.

I just finished a photo tour of Newfoundland. Michael, the tour leader was absolutely amazing. He took myself and 2 of my friends around the west side of Newfoundland and then to Fogo Island and Twillingate. We crammed in 2 weeks of touring in 8 days but never felt rushed and he was always willing to help us with our photography and give us new ideas to try with great results. Michael was always in a good mood and patient. Although our visit was during off season he managed to show us how beautiful the land is and how warm and friendly the people who live are with everyone. We would not consider visiting Newfoundland unless we had Michael with us. If you have the opportunity to go on a photo tour of Newfoundland Newfoundland Photo tours and Michael are the best.

I thoroughly enjoyed the low light tour. Michael was great. He was very helpful and patient. He made a point to come around to each of us to assist. He’s a great teacher and encouraged us to try and figure out issues. He also showed us some nifty low light tricks. Michael also selected great locations for the shoot. I am from the area, but I had not been to these specific locations before so it was great having a new perspective from which to shoot. I would definitely love to go on another photo tour with him. He mentioned he might be organizing something for the Torngat Mountains in Labrador next year. I bet that would be incredible experience.

We took the 2 day tour with Michael with our friends as part of our visit to Newfoundland in mid June. We travelled to the Bonavista Peninsula chatting with Michael about Newfoundland. Even though the first day was foggy it was amazing what photos came out of this with Michael's guidance and encouragement. Our puffin experience was the best but be prepared to put on every layer of clothing you have this time of year. Michael even had some extra layers with him in case it was needed. We had various levels of photographic skills and one of us was there just to enjoy the views. Michael was up in the early morning for a sunrise tour for anyone interested in going. We did take a zodiac tour to see an iceberg and other scenery and it was certainly worth it. Michael was with us to provide advice of getting some excellent shots.
We stayed at the newly opened Ellis House and it was great. Beautiful location and such warm hospitality.
This 2 day tour was so much fun largely due to Michael's personable approach. We became so much more aware of what to look for and loved the unique places Michael took us. We appreciated Michael's passion for photography and his thoughtfulness and consideration on the 2 days. A very unique way of seeing Newfoundland.

I spent 5 days with Michael and came home with thousands of photographs. Michael was an excellent guide. He knows the tourist spots and the unique locations to find the wildlife of Newfoundland. Michael's photographic expertise takes you to the right locations at the right time of day to get the best photographs. All my expectations were exceeded! Wish I could do a repeat trip.

I had a great. His personable style was great and relaxing. He took me to many places that were off the beaten path to get a lot of photos others would not necessarily want.
I always was given a choice of what I wanted to do. His knowledge and expertise was appreciated at all times. I will book Michael again when I return to the Rock.

We went on an amazing photo tour with Michael. We got great photos using his guidance and expertise. Our wish list included, icebergs, whales, and puffins and Michael certainly didn’t disappoint. We saw minkes, fin, and a humpback whale. We were lucky enough to get pictures of the humpback tail in full view of a tremendous iceberg. We are so happy to have chosen Michael for out photography tour and would highly recommend him . Thank you Michael for the amazing experience.

We had a great photo tour with Michael. We got great photos mostly due to his suggestions and patience. He took us to many out of the way locations we would never have found on our own. The accommodations and adventure activities he suggested were first rate. Definitely a great trip to remember.
