We waited well before the times that were stated on the website. We waited downtown by the sign at the stop for this bus. The bus never came. There was no voice message or customer service when I called. No way to get hold of this company. We were stranded there so frustrated after scheduling our day and paying a high cab fare from our hotel to reach their bus stop. Thankfully another tour company (McCarthy’s) pulled up to pick up people who had pre-booked their tour. They normally don’t take spur of the moment passengers as you need to book on line, but when we explained our circumstances they still had space for us to join their tour and pay later. phew! They said they did not think the Hop on bus had been running again after the pandemic. Hop on should have updated their website!

When we visited St. John's, we did not have our own transportation, so we made the mistake of calling for taxis and finally hailing them when the ones we called for didn't show up. Then we discovered Hop On/Hop Off. For $45, you can ride to just about all the good places and get off and on again as needed for two days. Definitely much better than taxis.

Waited 45 minutes (945am-1030am) in front of The Alt for a 10am pick up on Wednesday morning. They were a no show. No updates on their website. No updates on Facebook. No one answers the phone. Voice mail box was full. When asked no one had any information.

John was an amazing driver and commentator for the trip. He made taking the full circle very worthwhile. St. John’s has some incredible history and taking the bus tour was a good way to get flavour for the city and an overview of what it has to offer.

We used the Hop on Hop off shuttle at the Alt Hotel. Our drivers were absolutely amazing! Billy our first driver was so entertaining and so accommodating! He is exactly what a tour bus driver should be!! Labor Day Monday, they could not get their shuttle buses out from where they are stored, even though they had sold tickets for that day. We were told they would be no service that day but low and behold around the corner with a huge smile on his face is BILLY, to be sure us customers got our rides for the day! WOW, we we have travelled across the country and never been treated so well. WAY TO GO BILLY and THANK YOU!! You are a wonderful and Harding working fella. Now as for the buses themselves, they do need some work, air conditioning for sure! Thanks again and hats off to Billy!!

Aug 30 booked, paid for, and boarded hop on hop off tour of 10 sites. Got to quidi vidi and waited forever for bus to pick us up along with other people. Finally the company van came to our stop with the news that bus was broken down and he would take us back to point of origin at the ALT Hotel. Cannot get phone response from that company to request refund of $92 for my hubby and me. Their mailbox is full so can't leave message. Will be contacting my credit card company to file dispute of that chg.

Our bus drivers were amazing. Very knowledgeable and entertaining. The bus seemed old, not working well and did not have air conditioning. Also, it is suggested that there be more available busses on days when ships are docked as we saw some people wait for thee busses before finally giving up.

Knowledgeable driver/guide on 2 hr overvie tour of St Johns. 10 stops covering the history of the area as well as the important landmarks. Left from the ALT Hotel right next to the port. Temp in August is moderate (60’s Fahrenheit)

Instead of getting off at the first stop we stayed on took the 2 hour City Tour with Brian. Then stayed on the bus and hopped off at a couple of the locations which were of interest to us. Brian was very informative and has the personality for the job!
The purchased ticket is good for 2 days. We broke down our sight seeing in the two days to avoid being rushed at the different venues. As a result of being low on manpower buses came by every hour. We found that was ample for the stops we chose to get off and check out.
On our second day we had Dave, a new driver with Hop on Hop off. Although he says he isn't as good as Brian we thought for his first run he did a fine job.

This is always a great way to see the city. This one is a little different because the hours are limited and buses are infrequent at stops. If you get off anywhere you have to wait an hour until the next bus comes and if it's full you have to wait another hour, which is not good if you're visiting off a cruise ship. My group stopped halfway and made our way back because the small bus was not air-conditioned and it was usually 30 degrees that day. The good thing is you have 2 days to complete the 2-hour loop, but again not if you're on a cruise.

We will be on the Island Princess cruise ship on 29 May. Will you be operating at that time? How do we purchase our tickets ahead of time? What is the cost? Is there a HOHO bus stop at the pier?

Hello, thanks for your question! Yes, we will be operating May 29 for the Island Princess. You can purchase tickets ahead of time on the Buy Tickets page of our website.
Tickets are $45 for adults, $40 for seniors and $30 for children. There is no stop directly at the port however, the nearest stop is only about a 5-minute walk with someone available for directions.
Are you operating in October? I will be in St. John’s next week for 6 days and would love to have the type of tour that you offer. Thank you

A few of your guests seem to have trouble when cruise ships are in town but the majority are wholeheartedly recommending you. How does one find out when cruise ships are scheduled to be in dock since we have options while we are in St. John's?

Hi Linda, thanks for your question! As mentioned, the City of St. John's has posted the cruise ship schedule for St. John's under "Visiting our City">"Cruise Schedule".
While cruise ship days have proven to be a challenge for us due to our capacity, we have been learning from feedback provided to us, and have taken steps to make sure cruise days flow more smoothly for all! This includes extra buses and staff, and adjusting our schedule for peak times.
