Amazing street with music in every pub and restaurant . Wonderful experience. Great food, great drinks and so many different types of music and foods. Brodericks is my favourite with music every day.

I mean if you are in St. John's, you have to visit the infamous George Street. To be honest, I'm not quite sure what the hype is. Lots of old pubs mainly, that could use a sprucing up. Not comparable to the bar district in Dublin and I actually prefer Water Street for better food and nicer pubs. It wasn't even as busy as Water Street while we were in town.

George Street May be alive at night but stroll Water Street during the day for funky sops and places to eat. It is a summer pedestrian area so it is traffic quieted and fun to admire the buildings from the street.

George street is a "must see," when visiting St Johns NFL. We had a lovely stroll all along George st. on a beautiful September afternoon. Very interesting, and then go for a walk down Water Street, and visit many shops and eateries.

Everything in St. John’s/Newfoundland is excellent. People are friendly and welcoming in. I was there for a business trip. Definitely going back for vacation.

We might have missed it timing wise (week before school started) but the Sunday and Monday night, the street life was dead! I think Covid hit St. John's hard, half of the buildings are boarded up or have a ton of graffiti markings. The bars that were open looked great, but we didn't stop in as it was super quiet.

Don't go unless you are under 25. Cheesey College Bar atmosphere. Two guys fighting in the street- one knocked unconscious and the other ripped his shirt off and flexed down the street while 15 girls swooned. Not Newfoundland's greatest...
DEFINITELY don't come with families/kids/teens.

Even a visit during the day is a worthwhile experience for a bite to eat, a drink and taking in the art and design of this small part of the city. Get there early in the day and you may see the 'clean up" from the party the night before.

Were there for the George Street Festival. So fun, lots of food, and great drinks to please everyone. Love the quaintness of the street.

you have to stop in to Quidi Vidi brewery. great brewery where you can buy a case of their in house made beers and have a few right there on the deck, or their upstairs is a tap house where they sell them as well. Friday nights they have a Newfoundland style kitchen party there with music and everything. very popular so come early if you want to get your pick of the seats! lots of tours going on when the cruise ships are in town but more of a locals spot on the Friday evenings.
Isn't there a big festival in November sometime? Where they close the streets down?

It is a very short street with a handful of bars. Early Aug would be busy with tourists and late Aug busy with university students returning to school.

Depends on what you are looking for. There are bars that cater to younger crowds and there are those that cater to older clientele. There are also bars that serve food and those that do not

We will be attending the Festival this summer and hoping you can help with my question. I see that there are tickets for sale for performances. Are these tickets for that performance or is it for access to the street? Not sure whether to order tickets ahead of time as not sure exactly what they are for. Sent an email to their website but no reply.
Hope you can clarify for us
thanks

Sorry, I can't help here; my visit was after the festival. Enjoy it if you get there!
