Boyle Tours, a historical walk around St. John's, is a great way for visitors to see the beautiful city. Jed was a wonderful guide with lots of wonderful stories mixed with historical information. The walk was well paced, lots of time for questions and discussion. I would highly recommend this to new visitors to the beautiful old city.

This tour is superb. Michael Boyle is a seasoned speaker, storyteller, and guide. He led us from the Sheraton where he noted local architecture, to one of the oldest wooden churches in NL, all through Govt House grounds, and on to Bannerman Park and down to the refurbished War Memorial, all the while relating major historical events, and bringing in the range of inhabitants from the First Nations to local heroes. Boyle gives short orations, tells jokes, and brings up a few contested topics like confederation. We loved every minute of it.

Jed was an excellent story teller. As a local he had all the good stories with some he was present for due to his age as a retiree. The history is astounding and at time unbelievable! We had a little one in a stroller, and the tour was suitable for this situation. The tour was informative, and an appropriate pace for walking.

The perfect tour to give you the sense of the history of St. John's. Michael was very entertaining and extremely knowledgeable. Put this on your list if you have a couple of hours and enjoy walking tours.

We find walking tours an excellent way to learn about a city's history - especially St John's, North America's oldest city. In St John's there is so much history and places of interest in it's historic port area/downtown without doing too much walking. Mr.Boyle shared valuable insights into St. John's and also entertained us along the way. We really enjoyed the Boyle tour and would highly recommend it to others! You just don't get the same information and insights walking around this part of the city on your own.

My husband and I really enjoyed Michael's Historic Walking Tour. It was very informative and Michael's humor and wit made the history very entertaining. He pointed out some of the odder facts with a sensitive understanding of Newfoundland history.

What a fine start to our vacation on the Avalon Peninsula! When Michael Boyle met us for the start of the tour wearing his bowler hat, I knew this was going to be fun. The tour was not only fun, but so chock full of Newfoundland history. Walking the unique and historic streets of St. John's on a lovely, sunny, summer's day was a step back in time. Michael's very knowledgeable and informative narrative was beyond awesome---a terrific orientation to what turned out to be a top highlight of our Newfoundland trip. One tip: Wear comfy walking shoes. Thank you, Michael, for your lovely tour. Highly recommend!

First of all Mary Jane -thanks for taking time to reflect on your enjoyable experience with Boyle tours.
Our tours are about presenting history in a dramatic way..No stodgy university history lecture here - because it vital to have an interactive tour.
Questions and observations from the group add life and excitement to our tour. Now I must say I cant always provide a sunny day but we do provide an educational and memorable experience of this place we call home.
THANKS

When in St. John's, be sure to go on a Boyle tour! Mr. Boyle's tours are not your average walking tours--he links history of the city/province/people to present day and he is very entertaining. Time went by very fast!! It was one of the highlights of my week in St. John's. I can't wait to return and learn more! Thank you Mr. Boyle!

Arlene.
Many thanks for taking time to write about Boyle Tours..You are correct we want our guests to have a great experience in St John's.Our tour is a kind of seminar on the street. The inner-active aspect of tour does appeal to our visitors.
Cruise ship passengers like the fact that all our tours are personalized. This can only be done by keeping the group size to a maximum of thirty guests. Thanks again Arlene.

Our group of neurologists and spouses thoroughly enjoyed Michael's spirited and informative tour. He developed rapport instantly with our large group and obviously loves Newfoundland and it's history. Example of Michael's spirit: day after our tour Michael spotted me running in the rain and stopped to give me a lift back to the hotel. Outstanding service PLUS great tour !
