We chose this location on our first day in St. John's as the weather was perfect. The trails are paved and the views are excellent. The lighthouse may be permanently closed but we don't know for sure. We enjoyed reading about the military that was...More

We visited when everything was closed, but would be a really great place in season. The views and walks are great and the gun placements would be great to see when open. Worth the trip

We were very fortunate to visit this site on a beautiful, warm day. View overlooks the Atlantic Ocean to the east and Signal Hill and Torbay to the north. The original Lighthouse is open for tours. There is also a gift shop on site and...More

Very nice views over the oceans, a must do if you're in St. John's! It's a 20 min drive from the city and you'd probably need a car to go there.

We have visited here several times and the view is breathtaking! There are hiking trails that lead for KMs from here, a historical museum, an art gallery and a gift shop with something for everyone. At certain times of the year you can see whales...More

Makes you appreciate The travellers of the years ago with no fancy navigational aids! Accessibility is not bad but as per the landscape allows it’s not easy for those who have issues walking.

We had a picknick looking out over Freshwater Bay and watched the whales breaching. Then we walked up the short trail/steps and rested near the lighthouse looking out over the sea only to hear and then see whales breaching just down below us near the...More

I was not inclined to see the sunrise; the weather was so bad (as it frequently is this time of year) that it could not have been seen anyway. Nevertheless, the views are incredible. I'm sure they are even better when the lighthouse isn't closed...More

It’s worth a stop even for 30 minutes. We were there on a windy day in October. All the buildings were closed for the season, but it was well worth the visit to walk around and watch the waves. There was a lower parking lot... More
