Really nice staff, but so few of them that I couldn’t get through on the phone and had to drive over to registration. Rangers? What rangers? The “general store” only sells snacks and soda… not camper necessities like toilet paper, propane bottles, batteries, etc A prime example of how government beaurocracy can goof up a good ideaVisited August 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten August 7, 2023
- Gary BPrescott, Arizona212 contributionsA Salubrious Haven, in the City CentreLong Pond Trail was my main focus. I, along with several other visitors (who seemed to be locals), was disappointed that the Fluvarium was closed. I was, however, not disappointed at either the trail, or the small, but lovely community garden and sound garden at Elaine Dobbin Centre for Autism, just west of Pippy Park. I would, on future visits, be likely to camp in the park. The atmosphere is very tranquil.Visited June 2022Written July 18, 2022

The lots are very private, trees everywhere. You can barely see your neighbors. It's a very short drive to the town of St johns and everything in the area.Visited August 2020Travelled with familyWritten August 22, 2020

Whether you have a tent, trailer or RV there are wonderful sites available in Pippy Park. If they are not already booked! This park is a favorite of many while visiting St. John's. Once you go through the park entrance you are in a wilderness setting. There are plenty of services available such as bathrooms, water/electric hookup, laundry and so on. There are trails for hiking, a playground for the kids, a pond for the ducks and other wildlife. On our first walk around the park this year my wife and I counted 15 rabbitts. The park closes in late fall but it is semi groomed for cross country skiing in the winter with numerous trails. We enjoy this park for walking on a regular basis starting as soon as the snow melts in the spring.

We had some spare time before heading out to the Trinity area and decided to hike one of the trails leading to the smaller pond. A mistake. The footing was poor and the scenery was repetitive and boring. It was also confusing finding the trail. Given the nearby East Coast Trail, Pippy Park seemed to us a poor quality choice.

Quick drive from downtown to play a quick 9 holes of golf. Be prepared for some wind and a bumpy drive in the golf cart. Very open course so pretty forgiving. Greens could have been better but it didn't really matter. Had a great time and would play there again. Nice long course if you play from the back.

Decent campground with fairly private sites. Had a great experience until we were told our site was overbooked and that we had to move to overflow. We received a call later assuring us that we had a site- nope. Booking was terrible; the campground was accomdating a caravan of class 1 RVs and we were left camping out in a friends driveway. Great campground with poor management.

Is there a shuttle service or taxi service from pippy park to George Street downtown available?
Hi there! I have a reservation for two nights this coming weekend. My credit card was charged for the first night which was correct but it was also charged an additional 64.00 from provincial parks of Canada. What is that for?

Hi,
Pippy Park does charge a first night deposit on reservations. However we are not a provincial park so the $64 charge was not from us. I would suggest that you contact Provincial parks of Canada to see what the charge was pertaining to.
Thanks and we look forward to you stay
