My three sisters and I joined our tour guide Tony Biles, bus driver Ray, and 30+ new friends for a wonderful 8 day bus tour of Newfoundland.
McCarthy's was helpful and accommodating from the moment of our booking the tour to the drop off at the airport for our flight home.
Tony set up a What'sApp chat a week before the tour and we all started to get to know each other.
8 people had flight delays causing them to miss the beginning of the tour. But Tony, and McCarthy's stepped up to help them find alternate accommodation, transportation from the airport, and to meet up with the tour as soon as possible.
The accommodations were excellent, as was the food that was included in the tour.
When we arrived at each hotel, our rooms and card keys were ready, and our luggage was delivered within minutes.
My one sister is unable to eat any solid food at all, and every hotel, restaurant, and even the Gander Curling Club, where we ate provided pureed meals for her. Tony connected with each establishment to ensure that this was looked after.
We guests were given several choices for each meal. Most meals offered a cod option and although I selected the cod option almost every time, I don't think I got two cod meals prepared the same. There was cod au gratin, pan fried cod, seafood chowder, etc. and there were also plenty of options for those who preferred something other than sea food.
McCarthy's alerted us to the Gros Morne Theatre Festival in Cows Head, and most of us guests opted to take in a show. Ours included Newfoundland folklore, jokes, and traditional music.
We all got Screeched In on our bus tour of Bonne Bay, and enjoyed exploring Gros Morne.
My highlights were the dinner and show at the Gander Curling Club, seeing finally puffins for real at Bonavista and Witless Bay, the traditional music on both boat tours, Cape Spear, Quidi Vidi ... I could go on.
I highly recommend McCarthy's Party Tours. It's really a fun and relaxing way to see Newfoundland.
