The Dory boats were an essential part of this fishing community, and the Dory Shop museum does a fantastic job of blending story and information so that the experience is both informative and moving. Lovely volunteers keeping the building craft alive as well!

Shelburne is a super unique little town. If you love history, old buildings, and interesting people.. this town is for you. Make sure you stop by the Museum's "Dory Shop," where they still make boats the same way they did 150 years ago.

Just a nice way to spend an hour or so, we had a great conversation with the gentleman building the dories. This man is an artist, the craftsmanship was second to none, and he takes great pride in his work, and likes to tell you...More

We had a great time talking to the craftsmen, I even got a chance to make a cut. This place is a must for wood workers, history buffs, or Mariners.
