We went to the gift shop in search of gifts for friends but could find very little beyond blankets and moccasins, and lots of things they are breakable so not good for going in suitcases. The place seems to have potential, but it was dead. We did not pay to go into the park itself so we cannot comment on... More

This cultural center is found on the Membertou First Nations land. Inside the museum is a very well done display showing the history of the Mi'kmaq people, well worth spending some time viewing if you are interested in the culture of the area. There is also a gift shop attached to the museum. Be careful though - when many of... More

Membertou is quaint with a heritage Museum and the traffic signs were in Mi'kmaq and English. We stayed at the Hampton Inn which was newly renovated and the staff was friendly and helpful.

Membertou Heritage Park shares the history of the Mi'kmaq people who lived, and still live here. The story starts with the original settlement on Kings Road and the forced move of the entire community to the present day site of Membertou. There are exhibits and kiosks with the complete story and the transcript of the trial that concluded with the... More

The Heritage Park is located down the street from the Hampton Inn and Suites. It offers information about the Mi'kmaq people and its heritage. There are detailed displays and videos inside the building and a teepee outside. We found the displays very informative. We visited during the week, and unfortunately, there was no guide available. The gift shop offers crafts... More

We got caught up at another museum so we didn't have as much time for this one as we would have liked. We did a quick walk-thru and I really enjoyed seeing the room with the teepees and canoe. I wish we had time to watch the videos offered but we didn't. The gift shop was nice but pretty expensive.... More

If you are looking to familiarize yourself with the background of this area, the Heritage Park is the place you want to visit. Lots of information on the people and the First Nations culture, here you can purchase clothing items and hand made jewelry made by locals. The owner Jeff Ward is a great story teller and you will want... More

We had some trouble locating the Park coming from Sydney and it seemed that most locals did not knowh the park, but located it finally by coincidence... We received a warm welcome and coudl enter the museum for free as there had been type of convention and they were mocing all type of things... The museum is very informative and... More
