If you are interested in the history or people of the Digby, Nova Scotia area, this museum is a must. We stopped in to see if we could find any information about my family who lived in the area for generations and the staff were super helpful with tons of records to share. It even turned out that distant relatives of mine built and lived in the building long before it became the Admiral Digby Museum. And even if you aren't looking for your ancestors, it's a very informative and interesting place to stop.

i went to Digby to research family history and was impressed with the extent of the genealogies to be found at the museum. My family had been the area on and off for 300 years or more. Through their archives I was able to make linear and actual connections with distant cousins both in Canada and the US, including a few still in the Digby area. The staff offer research assistance for a minimal fee if one wants it. They also go a step beyond in helping to ferret out obscure information about
Digby families and local history. If your family comes from here and you want family history, this is the place to go.

This little museum has an extensive records section and offers courses on a regular basis. The exhibits are well cared for and the staff are delightful!

Downstairs is like walking back in time 100 or more years ago---rooms and manicans were set and dressed for the day
upstairs my family and I were able to dig back in time for our lineage that came from Digby and beyond with the masterful guidance and help of the assistants at the museum. We had already quite a bit of information of our own but we discovered the old homestead in Annapolis Royal and visited it the following day----wow, without the generosity and local spirit of the museum we would never have discovered this far back in our ancestry. Thanks again!!!

The Museum has excellent displays which are well grouped and arranged to lead from one area of interest to another. The staff were extremely knowledgeable about local history, the families in the area, and very accommodating about helping with research.
This was an excellent starting point for discovering local history and investigating genealogy including for the villages on Brier and Long Islands located at the south end of Digby Neck.

Stopped to visit and found it interesting though small. It is free but they do ask for donations.
Allowed my grandson to experience his first museum in Nova Scotia.
