Halifax has a handle on historic preservation. Our guide told the story on past efforts to replace the area with glass walled building and thoroughfares.

On many mainly-business trips to Halifax, we have always stayed at the Delta Barrington, and strolled in the Historic Properties. It's a good area for casual visits, too. There are decent places to eat, and generally adequate parking (which can be problem elsewhere in downtown...More

Apart from seeing some ancient buildings and how they are now used for a gym or a shop, I found this part of Halifax not so interesting. We went also inside the part with shops and a restaurant, but my opinion remains the same, nothing...More

I always visit the Historic Properties just to fully feel the atmosphere of Halifax. I love the pubs the shoppes and the view of the Harbour. It also is near the Dartmouth Ferry another great place for a view of the skyline.

Wow this place is old and well preserved. Trying to imagine what this place looked like a couple hundred years ago. A must visit in Halifax.

As well as historic houses there are a number of boutique shops and eating places to enjoy. Easy to find at one end of the boardwalk

The cruise is over by Pier 21. It is probably a good 10-15 minute walk to Historic Properties from the Cruise Terminal.
