Our first visit and we were not disappointed. The Maud Lewis exhibition is worth seeing if you are interested in folk art. I felt very moved by the beautiful colours on her paintings. We did visit the rest of the art gallery which we found...More

Although there is more here than just the folk art, that's where its strength lies. Take time in particular to immerse yourself in the Maud Lewis gallery. Lewis was an untrained artist, and her pieces have a simple air, but she had the eye of...More

We visited this lovely art gallery while on holidays specifically to see the Maud Lewis display. Not only was there an extensive collection of her original paintings but her entire original (tiny) house had been transported and set up inside the gallery. Her house, along...More

They have the best Maud Lewis collection and several very good pieces of folk art. Unfortunately the souvenir store was sold out of many Maud Lewis items, as this was the end of the season.

This is a small museum that you can walk through gently. The folk art sections are wonderful and there were special exhibitions like Maudy's house (yes the real one is on display). Enjoy the flavor of Nova Scotia. It has a nice, small gift shop.

Only had about an hour but so much to see particularly the Maud Lewis display.. This is an excellent gallery, set aside time to enjoy it fully. I have to come back, and put some hours in to do it justice!

Loved the Maud Lewis exhibition including the tiny house she painted and lived in actually physically moved to the museum. Very timely now as new movie of her life now out. Other pieces nice but not exceptional.

The Art Gallery of Nova Scotia is a great gem of an art museum focusing on the artists of Nova Scotia and the Maritimes. Larger than expected, it's collection includes the house of the late Maud Lewis, and a good overview of her work. As...More
