Ryan was perfect! We had such a great day with him. We loved that he was so passionate and knowledgeable about his hometown. We were almost ready to move there after hearing his love for Halifax! We asked for specifics to our day and everything was covered. Even when we expressed a desire to have some fresh fish for lunch and not at a sit-down restaurant, he found a perfect side of the road spot to eat that was delish! We had physical limitations for some of our group and he adjusted everything so all could participate. He shared a wealth of information with us about Halifax and it was interesting to listen to. He even answered our barrage of questions! His ride was comfortable and we appreciated that he had a microphone so we could hear him perfectly (a few of us have hearing challenges). One of the most memorable experiences in our day was a lovely hike to some beautiful scenery and him playing his guitar and singing local folk songs. He's incredibly talented and meant to be a tour guide. The whole day and experience is a memory engrained in our hearts forever! Truly would use him again in a heartbeat!

I had a great time at the day tour to Cape Split. Ryan was an excellent tour guide and had so much knowledge about the area and Nova Scotia and was enthusiastic to share his knowledge and travel stories with us :) it is always great to see the passion someone has for the job. I highly recommend Great Earth Expeditions for any tour you have planned! I heard they are going to expand and have a great future ahead!
Thanks again Ryan for the amazing tour!!

Ryan was an amazing and personable guide, who was extremely knowledgeable of the history of the Bay of Fundy! The hike and view from Cape Split was breathtaking, with a very enjoyable lunch provided by Ryan. Easily the most enjoyable part of my trip to Halifax. Would absolutely recommend, and I cannot wait to return to take another Great EARTH Expedition in the future.

Every time I visit Halifax I book a tour with GREAT Earth. Their guides never disappoint and always provide an enjoyable experience. Having done the Bay of Fundy, Wentworth Valley, and Peggy's Cove tours, I have to say this is the most challenging of the hikes. But I had the greatest time. It was a hotter than usual day on July 5 in Nova Scotia. We hiked a trail at Taylor's Head Provincial Park through the woods and along the shore. So many beautiful views. It was a great day. Many thanks to our guide, who i'm ashamed to admit i forget his name. I believe it was George. Apologies if i have it wrong. I should have written this sooner. If you're visiting Halifax, you can't go wrong booking one of GREAT Earth's tours.

Thanks for taking the time to write a review even if months later. George was the guide and happy to hear you enjoyed the tour and even happier to know you returned to tour with us again. It's a great compliment when folks tour with us again and again.
See you again and might I suggest Cape Breton next time around.

Kevin was knowledgeable and likeable. The structure of the day was excellent, and we particularly enjoyed the walk on the rocky barrens. A most enjoyable day.

Today's tour was perfection. Our hike and guide could not have been better! We learned about the geology and history of the country, plus general topics about Canada. The perfect weather didn't hurt!

I recommend this tour to everyone who'd like to spend four days full of adventures, outdoor activities, good food, culture, unforgettable moments and fun!
There was nothing to complain about the whole four days! I've had an amazing time! The tourguide did an amazing job and asked about/involved our needs and suggestions! I felt very comfortable and save.
I can't even decide for a Highlight., cause there were so many of them: whale watching, kayaking, hiking, dinner at the beach, sunsets etc.

Awsume! GREAT EARTH worked with us to create a memorable trip on our 1 day that our crusie was in Halifax. Kevin was our guide and took us on a beautiful hike along the shoreline. The hike was not difficult but it did go over rocky terrian. No need for hiking boots good stready shoes were just fine. We also stopped in Peggy's Cove which is quaint but overloved. We had a picnic there and the food was great.
We loved our expierence and thank you for working with us. I would recommend this trip and this company to everybody.

This was an intimate tour with Kevin leading me and one other couple in a minivan. Such a smaller scale than I expected but welcomed so we could have real conversations during travel and over the prepared lunch at a picnic table on Peggy's Cove. I enjoyed the rock hike a great deal. We were trying to stay ahead of some stormy weather (tropical storm) bearing down, and Kevin kept the pace quick so we got the full experience but didn't have to run back to the van should the weather turn bad. He played local folk classics (Stan Rogers) as music for the ride. Knows the area, the geography, history, and nature, which I really got a lot out of. Felt rugged; needed hiking poles to scale the boulders. It was terrific!

Thanks for your review and praise for Kevin. He is an exceptional guide and really has a passion for our local history and culture in addition to our international travellers who join us on our tours.
Hope you make it back to this neck of the woods and travel with us again.

Some more questions. What can I expect for the Peggy’s Cove hike? Is it strenuous? Do you need to be in “perfect” shape to do it?

After about an hour in the car, we walked in dirt trails that included some planks covering wet grounds. Good non slip shoes and balance are needed. We stopped every so often for the guide to share info or take a photo. It was not strenuous. There are no benches along the route so plan to be on your feet for an hour or so. We were then driven to the tourist area and had lunch in a sandy “beach” where the high tide comes in. After that, we walked to the lighthouse and were given about another hour to tour shops and take photos. So we likely walked 2-3 miles in total for the trip.

How much free time for exploring, etc do you have in Lunenburg? It looks like a nice place to visit.

We had about an hour from what I remember. It was extremely hot though the day we went so we’re were seeking shade. It is a most attractive place.

Use the company's website to see what tours are offered on by date. You can see for September 2018 they go to Fundy each Saturday but you should look at whatever month/year you plan to be there. Enjoy!

Hello, I'm a family of 4, me, my wife and my 2 kids are wanting to do a educational tour of Nova Scotia's outdoors. We only have 2 weeks of the summer free and we have a budget of 2000$. So I was just wondering much much this will all cost. Also wondering if you'd pick us up and bring us back to our hotel. If not that's okay because we have a minivan we can get around in. This tour sounds very interesting and i'm just curious, Thank you.

I will be in port Oct.3rd Monday on a cruise from 9-6 p.m. I would like to hike, see the Bay of Fundy beach & collect some rocks or shells. I would like something for an experienced hiker.

Hi - realized I posted this in the wrong site - thinking of booking Great EARTH Expeditions walking tour of Peggy's cove and had a few questions I gathered from the description there is no tour around the city prior to the drive to the cove is that correct? How many are in the group generally? Do you take a different route to and from Peggy's cove or is the return route the same? How far is the pick up from where the ships dock - i.e. is it walkable? Thanks for your comments/responses

We do provide a quick tour of the city and stop at the Halifax Citadel and Public Gardens. Our groups are between 4-12 people and the route is different on the way back from Peggy's Cove as we follow St Margaret's Bay. We provide pick-up right from the cruise terminals. Email us if you would like to book the tour. Our email is found on our website. Thanks
