Day or night the Oval offers a great place to skate. Best of all it's free. Also free skate rentals available. Check online before you go. General skating is sometimes interrupted by scheduled group skates and practices, etc.

I would recommend this to do if you know how to skate. It's fun for the whole family. So stop by and give it a try.

Have skated here numerous times. A great activity for the whole family. Hot and cold snacks can be had (not free) as well.

Well this was a big controversy with Halifaxx residents until it's completion and it has become a place to be and be seen in the Summer/Winter/Spring and Fall! Many events occur and it is wonderful to skate there in the winter...I prefer to rollerblade in...More

The oval in Halifax is one of our family's winter favourites. We don't live in Halifax, but we always come there for New Year's eve/day and make a visit, weather permitting to the skating oval. Skates and helmets are free to "rent" and the monitors...More

I think every city should have this. It was such a sight to see all the people and families enjoying themselves by biking or skating. I am so glad that the city kept this. Its obviously a much loved and well used place.

What a great place for everyone. You can get skating equipment in the winter and skateboard equipment in the summer all free of charge. What a great way to spent a summer or winter afternoon.

Parking is tough. There are 2 hour spots along the adjoining road but there aren't many, there's also spots on northbound Robie street. I usually don't need to do more than a lap around the commons to find a spot but if it's... More
