Above and beyond Gothic and here in Nova Scotia. Truly exceptional in architecture and location. Across from the cemetery on Spring Garden road which holds military and Titanic survivors and deceased....if you understand my inability to figure out the proper word....without sounding cryptic?

We had walked past this lovely building each time we left the hotel and explored the area. On Sunday we decided to attend the morning Mass in this church. We were made to feel welcome, with hymn books available for us to use. The Mass was conducted in English, and the whole feel of it was a prayerful yet joyous... More

A beautiful church, I went three times during my time in Halifax - for regular Sunday mass. Gorgeous architecture and a serenity that pervades the space are enough to warrant a visit outside of mass times.

This is a very beautiful church in downtown Halifax. The outside of the building is granite and the spire is apparently the tallest granite spire in North America. The interior of the church is very beautiful with some very nice stained glass windows. Worth the visit if you are into visiting historical and beautiful churches.

My wife and I spent one day in Halifax, Nova Scotia. One of the places we wanted to visit was St. Mary's Catholic Basilica. It is located in the downtown area. It is a Gothic revival style building. The most striking element of the cascade is the 3 gables. We would recommend a visit.

I was fortunate enough to be in Halifax on a Sunday morning prior to returning to Montreal on the excellent Via Rail Canada 'The Ocean' train. The Cathedral became a Basilica in 1950, more than 65 years ago. It has a Gothic exterior. The interior looks somewhat like a ship's hull, very appropriate due to Halifax's huge connection with the... More

You must take time to go inside this beautiful and historical basilica. The interior is deisgned like the hull of a ship. The upper stained glass depicts Old Testament and the lower stained glass depicts New Testament. Stay to hear the guide tell the history of the church.
