We wanted a short trip on the water so decided to ride the ferry to and from Dartmouth. Being seniors, we paid $1.75 each for a return trip. There is not much to see at Dartmouth so we took the next ferry back as it...More

Cheap and cheerful at $2.50 per person ($1.75 senior and child) and you get a free transfer within 2 hours. Run extremely frequently (every 15mins during the day mon-fri) and the trip duration is approx 10 mins.

The ferry is a nice inexpensive way to "tour"the area on your own, and feel like you explored away from the cruise port area. It's a simple 20 minutes walk from the cruise ship up the waterfront. $2.50 per person US, exact change please.

Cheap way to get back and forth across the harbour. Very efficient loading and unloading. Be aware that Taxi's - if you need one - are hard to come by on the Dartmouth side.

Currently only service dogs are allowed, although a regional city counselor has suggested that all dogs be allowed to ride the ferry.

There is an inexpensive lot right by the ferry terminal. Google Halifax Ferry Dartmouth Parking for directions and costs
