The candy is very tasty and the prices are reasonable. Purchased several candy bars for friends and family.

My wife and I had cappuccinos here twice in a few days. They were the best in town; this establishment also serves great soft ice cream and sweet snacks such as madeleines.

Every year when we go to Halifax in November we visit here. Just a mere steps from the Weston Hotel we saunter over for hot chocolate, tea and pastries. The picture says it all. As with every year that passes the staff is friendly & helpful, the drinks & snacks are fantastic. I live in Montreal were there are a lot of places like this and Rousseau is very pleasantly a laid back low key and relaxing place to sit & recoup from walking around Halifax. For the other reviewer who mentioned prices were too high, Rousseau is very in line with other spots of it's caliber, very reasonable for the great products they provide. I have been to Europe, Rousseau's chocolate is just as great if not better.

We stopped there one afternoon and had cappucinos and madeleine (both good).
The chocolate brownie was dry. Most of the tables around us had dirty dishes
though the place was not very busy. Would not go back

Maybe I have overly high standards since I have been to Belgium and Switzerland but I found these chocolates to be pretty average and so did my boyfriend. They look amazing and the place is very cool and industrial looking inside but the chocolates just didn’t cut it for me. Especially for the price, I also think the hot chocolate has been over hyped. Like I said, I probably have very high standards when it comes to chocolate as I have had some exceptional experiences but this place didn’t come close for me unfortunately. And for $20 for a couple of hot drinks and some tiny chocolates the place just doesn’t cut it for me. In a way I’m kind of glad because I would be spending a lot of money here if the chocolates were out of this world, so thank you for being mediocre and expensive I guess. Not a combination to make me a returning customer.

I dropped in to this cafe that specializes in handmade chocolates and chocolate-based
cookies, pastries and drinks.I ordered two boxes of dark chocolates to be sent to close relatives mending from operations.I also drank a hot chocolate mocha and indulged in a chocolate-based light pastry. Both were delicious. Our gifts were sent to Montreal and Moncton and both recipients praised the tastes of the chocolates. This cafe also specializes in coffee. The service was excellent, pleasant and the atmosphere
bright and clean.

We stopped here on Remembrance Day after the ceremonies in Halifax and what a gem of a spot! Very friendly staff, fresh croissants, homemade hot chocolate which my niece adored plus my cup of English Breakfast tea hit the spot on this cold windy day.
When I return to Halifax this will be my first pit stop!

I received a jar of orange balsamic, caramel sauce and would like to have some ideas. I am sure it would be good over ice cream but can't think of another use for it. Maybe poured over cream cheese to serve on crackers?

Hi Doreen,
You got it! The Orange Balsamic Caramel Spread is perfect drizzled over ice cream, cakes & pies. Even sauté a few apples/pears in a bit of butter and pour that on top for a quick and delicisous dessert idea! Also, our customers have been raving about serving the spread with a nice cheese plate. A dab over a sharp cheddar or Camembert, yum! Please let us know if you have any other questions, we're delighted to help! -Nathalie
