Van Tours of Nova Scotia operates sightseeing tours through Halifax, Peggy's Cove, Lunenburg, Grand Pre' and other interesting places throughout the province of Nova Scotia. These are guided tours narrated by experienced guides. We offer sightseeing tours to visitors who are here for extended stays or for short visits, such as those arriving on cruise ships and no matter the length of your Nova Scotia vacation we can create a private tour that is guaranteed to entertain. Your guided tour will be conducted in an air conditioned, fully insured, late model minivan that holds up to six people. Minivan seating allows ease of conversation within your group while being close to the direct narration of your guide. The van loads and exits easily for the walk about portions of the tour which will allow many opportunities for both the amateur and professional photographer. We would like to stress that if you are thinking of touring Nova Scotia a tour can be designed around your preferences. Likewise, if it is a tour of Halifax and Peggys’ Cove that you are thinking of we can customize this tour as well to cater to your interests. There is even an option to enjoy local foods such as Lobster or similar sea food or you might be entertained by a visit to a functioning maple syrup facility. The choices abound.

Our driver, Garry Jollymore, was a very competent and pleasant tour guide and driver for the day. He gave us great information and was most flexible as to our itinerary. There were 5 of us and we were very comfortable in the van. This was a good value. Much less expensive that the cruise excursions. Garry met us right at the dock.

Terry took us to Peggy's Cove from the cruise port in Halifax and kept my multi-generation family entertained and smiling the entire way. We had such an interesting drive (about an hour each way) not only because the area is so beautiful, but because of Terry's knowledge of the area. Bring your camera!

Just be warned that you are more apt to have just a driver rather than a tour guide. The tour was more like hours in a cab vs really hearing and understanding about Nova Scotia. The driver was nice enough - but don't expect that you will learn anything.

Good Morning,
We have carefully reviewed your trip with our guide and additional sources and have been able to deduce that your guide provided what we believe is a quality tour given your itinerary as well as gave your group an additional two and a half hours over his billable hours to show you additional sights including Burntcoat Head Park , Bloomington National Park and Queensland Beach. It was also reported that your guide set up a lower then standard fare for an Air port transfer and gladly paid the difference from his own pocket as he had prior obligations to another tour after your scheduled two days and hoped he could assist you in your unrequested air port transfer but could not. Lastly it was brought to our attention that the driver had taken a portion of your group on a 45 minute walk within Lunenburg and discussed the history of the town , etc. which was apparently very well received. We are all of the understanding that the Itinerary that you had requested and any special stops you had specifically requested pre-touring via e-mail were reviewed with both you and the driver and that you had rejected these items thus our Driver/Guide had made additional suggestion to which you had proceeded with and apparently enjoyed.We are at a loss on this complaint as the driver reported that there was not one instance when he had checked on the comfortability and quality of the tour as it was being conducted.It was reported that niether one or a portion of the group had made complaints, The driver reported he was given a 70.00$ tip , Gifts and embraces ( Hugs) upon the tour end and was advised that you would be giving a great review as the tour was enjoyed.If the tour was of poor quality as you say why was the driver tipped ? and why were those claims made ? and why suddenly do we have complaints post tour rather then during ? You have mentioned that the driver has a lack of knowledge however the driver his provincially certified by T.I.A.N's ( Tourism Industry Association of Nova Scotia) and has passed their competency tests with no issues. Please let us know which portion of the tour the driver was "unknowledgeable" and failed to complete his duty based on the itinerary that was "sold" to you.

I did not take a tour ,but Gary met me at Stanfield Airport, after my long flight fro Victoria BC, No one knew that I was arriving, but somehow he found out, It was like a GOD send. It was then that I learned of his Tourists Tours. And how he was Honest Polite, and knowledgeable.

I booked this tour guide for our first time in Halifax. We had a group of 6 from our Celebrity Cruise ship. We all wanted to see as much as possible being our first time in Halifax and Garry did not disappoint! He was prompt and polite. He showed us so much and told us so much history of Halifax it was amazing. I would definitely use him again on a future trip. We all agreed it was one of the highlights of our 14 day New England Cruise. Thanks Garry

Four of us were met at the cruise terminal for a great day touring the area. Our guide was fantastic! He was so knowledgeable about the area. I didn't expect much from the Titanic graves but he shared several interesting stories of those as well.

We were four seniors of a cruise ship at the end of the season. Were met by our guide who met every requirement with courtesy and intelligence. He drove well, had an excellent knowledge of the city and area and gave us a wonderful day.We just did the basic itinerary and I know there is lots more to see but this is what we wanted and had time for. I am a professional tour guide myself and I know a good guide when I see one!! However I feel bad becasue his name escapes me!! So sorry and a big thank you!!

The best tour you could ever ask for on 10/152015. Gary met us at the cruise terminal and we were off to the best day ever. Seen most of Halifax and many beautiful lakes and little fishing villages heading to Peggy's Cove. Visited the maple syrup store and the most interesting was the visit to the Titanic Grave Site. We learned so much history from Gary and thank him for all the stories. Peggy's Cove was beautiful and got to take many photos. Hiring your own private taxi is the way to go.

Incredible tour of Halifax City, Lunenburg, Peggy's Cove, and other scenic. Ample time for photos, other stops, and lunch. Dave Marriott created a private tour for my wife and me.Memorable!

What type of vehicles do you use?
Do you have "pre planed tours" or do you make it up as we go along ??
Do you pick up and drop off at the cruise ship??

Good Afternoon ,
Thank you for your interest in Nova Scotia Van Tours, We currently do have availability for the 24th for a party of eight.

We use new minivans that are up to spec via municipal taxi and limousine regulations as well that are unto and above all federal and provincial safety regulations. Our fleet consists of Honda Odyssey Vans as well as new generation Chrysler Grand Caravan's.
You can view our pre planned tours on our website which should be in our profile information for trip advisor (I am not allowed to post web links when answering questions via trip advisors rules).
We have been specializing in "Shore Excursions" for almost over half a decade and do pick up and drop off at the Cruise ship or Pier.
and for your last question as we use mini vans to keep groups small and comfortable our guide is the driver as well with over 25 years of experience.
