After two weeks of visiting Canadian friends with friends from home, we had reservations for a farewell dinner at the Beaver & Bulldog Neighbourhood Taps + Grill in the Waterfront Hotel Downtown Burlington which is a short walk away from the Brant Street Pier.

While waiting for the meals to arrive, I took the 450 metre / 2/10 of a mile trek over there.

Brant Street Pier is a landmark and attraction in Spencer Smith Park at the Waterfront in Downtown Burlington. It extends 137 metres / 449 feet over Lake Ontario. It extends across the view from the back of the Waterfront Hotel Downtown Burlington. The pier offers panoramic views of the Lake Ontario and City of Burlington's shoreline.

The pier is a fairly recent addition to Burlington’s waterfront. It was part of a development program. The pier opened in 2013. It connects to the Burlington Waterfront Trail.

The Brant Street Pier is constructed of steel girder supports and concrete.

Near the end of the pier is a raised platform that supports a skeleton lighthouse / range light that locals call a beacon. It’s 12-metres / 39 feet high. Its frame is made of tubular steel. There are horizontal bands that are illuminated at night. It resembles a tall narrow barrel with seven horizontal bands. The colors of the lights vary for events, seasons, etc. On this night, it ran the full range of colors. The lights came on at 6:00 PM.

I managed to capture two different colors with my camera which is not known for taking good photos at night.

I thought that Brant Street Pier and the skeleton lighthouse / range light / beacon were really cool. I rate them at 4.0 and highly recommend a visit at night to get the full effect with the changing lights.

Brant Street Pier is beautifully constructed and offers fantastic views of Lake Ontario. Very easy to walk to the end of the pier or just to the lighted lookout tower.

Took a walk out onto the pier from the hotel. Nice well maintained park area. Watch out for the bird poop.

A warm March evening was cause enough to take the dogs for a walk along the sea wall and onto the pier. The lighting was appealing and the opportunity to see Burlington from the 'lighthouse' was beautiful. I realize that the 'pier' has been a contentious issue in Burlington, but if you haven't enjoyed it yet, take the time to come and experience it before you get caught up in the politics of it. We are blessed to have such a nice waterfront experience, and grumbling about the cost is now mute, so get out and enjoy it!

Very cool! It's great for families as there's a park, lots of green spaces and a tiny (and I mean TINY) beach. You definitely have to pack in your own stuff to do.
It's pretty!

What a beautiful city park. It was clean, the walking spaces were right along the water. The pier is a great place to watch the big ships on Lake Ontario.

One of the must seen spots in burlington. You can also get up the stairs to have higher views. My kids are small for that. Maybe next time

Finding a gem of a city with the downtown core home to this sweet pier is perfection. Giving off a sea side vibe with modern conveniences steps away.

Super cute spot and I love seeing it lit up at night. If you're lucky there might be a busker there too to add to your romantic walk!
