With the renovations it is a nice quick visit. My grandfather enjoyed his visit. Took my son when he was young and was made to feel unwelcome, he was darting around to the different exhibits but there was no one else in the building. So hesitated to take him for this last visit. If we don't make this sort of... More

I sincerely apologize that your son felt unwelcome during his visit. We strive to make our museums a welcoming environment to all ages and it sounds that your visit did not reflect that. Thank you for taking the time to provide feedback which I will share with the team. We hope you and your family have a chance to return... More

It's great that this house is stored as a historical spot. You'll get a free admission along with your purchase of a ticket to the civic museum. I wish however that the exhibition was extended with some more items. I am sure that civic museum could help to organize a better exhibition. It is literally nothing to see in the... More

We're sorry you were disappointed in your McCrae House visit. McCrae House was renovated in 2015 as part of the celebration of the 100th anniversary of the writing of In Flanders Fields. The renovation focuses on displaying McCrae’s life as a doctor, adventurer, soldier, poet and artist. The McCrae House reflects our growing collection and knowledge of McCrae and there's... More

Tucked away in a quiet neighbourhood is this charming 19th century stone home that was once the home of John McCrae who penned that beautiful poem, In Flanders Fields. This museum tells the story of John McCrae and his life and involvement with the Great War - what lead him to writing the poem, and his own eventual demise because... More

Not a big outing. Takes about 20 minutes to do a slow tour but admission gives you access the the Guelph Civic Museum too, so do both. They are about a 5-minute drive apart.

I was surprised about how very nice this exhibit is. The gardens are beautiful. The home is filled with the life and times of the protagonist. Displays are in English and French. The back yard should not be missed. Look for the oldest grapevine in Guelph ( planted in 1870).

Birthplace of the famous Canadian poet Col. John McCrae (In Flanders Fields) this small but complete historic site/museum is worth a visit. Situated beside Royal City Park & the river, it is a serene setting with pleasant gardens & monument. Try to catch the Guelph Pipe Band practices & concerts on certain Wednesday nights. Lest We Forget.

Very fitting tribute to a great great man. Only a small place but leaves a big impression! Couldn't find any specific parking area but the street had spaces right outside.
